Orangutan Mother With Baby Jim And Baby Joe

Jazz the Orangutan other from the Dudley zoo has her son Jim and her daughter's son Joe in her arms. Jim (On the left side) is already quite aware of his surroundings, two week old Joe is holding on to grandma/ surrogate mother tightly. Joe starts suckling. The staff said Jazz is doing really well in feeding them both. She seems to have plenty of milk. I'm really looking forward to these two growing up and watching things unfold between Jazz, Sprout, Jim and Joe.
Jazz is trying to have a lie-down, but gets back up again, taking a bit of straw to give the babies a buffer. Jazz rearranges herself, taking both the babies into one arm to have a lie down again. It can't be easy for her to get comfortable. Dad Dijmat is busy eating. Dad hasn't got any time for parenting duties. Which is quite normal, they leave it up to the mothers. Sprout seems to be doing OK. Still watching her mum with her baby from afar. I'll keep an eye on her and see how things develop. Sprout still loves to go for the blond look with her wood wool hat.

Orangutans truly are beautiful and special! Jazz is such a wonderful Mama and Grandmama. I hope Sprout will be more mature and ready in the future and understand what it means to be a Mama and what a special time it is. It's always quite difficult to get enough footage on the day for a longer video. They do sleep a lot or hideaway. So I always pick the best bits as no one wants to see just a sleeping animal. When I do get more footage and it is from different times of the day, I'll make them into smaller videos so I can keep up with the weekly publishing. As it is mostly just myself filming with the occasional help from my other half, it would be otherwise quite difficult to keep up with the weekly schedule. Even if I do make longer videos, unfortunately, they only get watched for up to 2 minutes. If something more would happen on the day and I've got enough footage and can keep it interesting for everyone then I'll promise I do make them longer.

I believe they hang on to mom constantly until they're 6 months. After that, they will start to explore but they will be closely watched by mom for awhile.

@@livinglife1135 I think they have explained that because Sprout is too young and doesn't know how to take care of a newborn, so mom Jazz took over to help her daughter.
