Description:
Welcome to our documentary on orangutans, the incredible primates that call the rainforests of Southeast Asia their home. Join us on a captivating journey into their world, as we explore their unique characteristics, behaviours, and the challenges they face.
Orangutans, classified as great apes, are known for their striking reddish-brown fur, expressive eyes, and remarkable intelligence. Discover their arboreal lifestyle, where they swing effortlessly through the treetops, showcasing their exceptional climbing abilities and dexterity.
Learn about the three main stages of an orangutan's life, from infancy to adulthood, and the crucial role of maternal care in their development. Explore their solitary nature, males' hierarchy and territorial behaviour, and incredible problem-solving skills.
Delve into their frugivorous diet, heavily reliant on the bountiful fruits of their rainforest habitat, and witness their resourcefulness in using tools to extract food. Uncover the range of vocalizations orangutans employ for communication, from long calls to grunts and kisses, as they establish territories and attract mates.
However, these extraordinary creatures are critically endangered due to deforestation driven by palm oil production, logging, and illegal hunting. Their habitats are rapidly disappearing, threatening their very existence. Discover the devastating impact of deforestation and the urgent need for conservation efforts.
Fortunately, numerous organizations and initiatives are dedicated to orangutan conservation. From reforestation and habitat protection to anti-poaching measures and community engagement, there is hope for the survival of orangutans. Explore the success stories and ongoing efforts that are making a positive impact.
In this documentary, we invite you to appreciate the beauty and vulnerability of orangutans and be inspired to take action. Support orangutan conservation through donations, volunteering, and making sustainable choices. Together, let's spread awareness and ensure a future where orangutans continue to thrive as guardians of the rainforest.
For further information and resources, visit the websites of reputable organizations such as Orangutan Foundation International, Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation, and Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme. You can also visit our website, projectwildworld.com, to find additional resources and support our channel.

OK thank you. I might scrap the music on future videos. All the documentaries I put on this channel are original as I put them together myself. But I have made a couple of mistakes, such as music, and the new elephant one, I have duplicated audio tracks so I am in the process of re-doing it now. Thank You for watching and for your input. Much appreciated 👍

@@ProjectWildWorld It's very rare for makers of documentaries to read or reply to the comments. Thank you for doing that! The music type is great, but it's a little bit too loud. I am not writing about that though, but about the computer-voice. 99.99% of people really hate listening to even the best of AI voices. They are simply too monotonous. It might take a minute or so to recognize the best ones, but after that they are more and more annoying as time passes. ANY human voice is far better than a computerized or AI voice! It also annoys me greatly that documentary makers constantly release their docs without ever listening to them, and so they let SO many mistakes get through! For example, in this video there is one instance that is found in every AI voiced video, but that should be very easy to control. That is the numbers. The computer reads "5 1/2 feet" as "five one slash two feet". So video producers should know that EVERY number will be said in such a way that it makes no sense at all, and so will ALWAYS definately need correcting. I have never heard AI pronounce a number over 9 properly. Ten is always said as "one zero". Eleven is said as "one one" etc. Numbers like 5' 11", which means "five feet and eleven inches" are also ALWAYS messed up. So are things like 5 lbs 7 oz, which means "five pounds and 7 ounces" but is said as "five el bee seven oh zee". Almost every name or proper noun will also be mispronounced. Since these things are SO predictable, why are they not anticipated and fixed before a video gets uploaded to KZbin? Otherwise this video is very well done. Thank you for reading this. I hope you can overcome these things, because otherwise your video is really great!

Additional information, Sumatran orangutans come to land less often because they have a predator, namely the Sumatran tiger, while Bornean orangutans come to land more often because they don't have predators such as tigers

The Planet Zoo wiki states that orangutans are unable to swim, and that their ranges are often dictated by rivers they cannot cross. I realize it's a video game and thus not necessarily realistic, but the wiki is usually accurate regarding the information it presents. So, according to this video, they actually can swim?

Hey, thanks for pointing that out. There is information on Orangutans swimming www.newscientist.com/gallery/orang-utan-water/ However, as stated in previous comments the information is generated from A.I. Maybe naively I trusted it to know everything about animals. I will try and fact-check better in future videos. Thanks for commenting.

They can swim, they just don't like to. There's an episode of Orangutan Forest School (great show!) where one of the toddler orangs becomes fascinated with water and is seen happily splashing about in it and diving onto it from a branch, and the narrator makes a point of stating that this is unusual behaviour, as orangutans tend to avoid water. Chimps are the same way, as well.

Sorry about that, this was one of my first videos and it is all A.I generated as A.I have a lot more knowledge than myself. It is also A.I voice-over. I just put everything together from free stock footage. My goal was to learn about Orangutans and I think the video provides good information but you are right it could be improved.

The footage of the orangutans is lovely. However some of the information presented contradicts with many other videos on orangutan behaviour and abilities; for instance, they are not adept swimmers as the commentator says. Their greater body density makes them more liable to sink in water than float, and drowning is a significant cause of death according to other sources. But anyway, I love watching these amazing creatures. I would like to have more detailed information on their diets and their methods of communications. I like hearing the male orang’s “long calls.” ❤🦧
