It is also worth considering that in Orania there have been cases of petty thievery and livestock theft, nothing super serious, but not crime free.

How can apartheid exist in a town where all residents do their own dirty work? They do not use people of another ethnicity to do the jobs most people look down on, as is still the case in USA and elewhere in SA. This is a new kind of thinking that sets an example, and Orania is in fact ahead of the rest of the world. The world (and Yahoo) just cannot see it, because it prefers to incriminate others while maintaining their own apartheid, also apartheid between rich and poor. While also seeking someone else to blame for their own problems. However, there really is nothing wrong with Orania. Orania started from nothing, and they take responsibility and ownership of what they started. Other communities can learn from them, they are willing to share their knowledge. Use it or not, but they are doing a good thing. (At least two of the images in the video did not come from Orania, but Yahoo added those for false sensation.)

Lake Sibayi area, east of Jozini is Zulu land. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with wanting to decide, for yourself, who you want to associate with, where you want to associate with and why you want to associate with without being bullied by popular militant liberalism. There are many places in South Africa that are a sort of "tribal land" (to use a term Americans would understand) where non-black people cannot live. When Apartheid was abolished, why did not the other ethnic groups in South Africa receive tribal lands? Indians, whites, coloureds, and many more ethnic groups live in South Africa. This is a very complex country. A five minute KZbin video doesn't do our country justice.

Im of the opinion that cultural diversity is important. I think theres a strong indication of a lack of knowledge on this topic, and the local context. He hits the nail on the head when he says there are many black only communities and nothing ever gets said about it. We are so diverse in culture and cultural direction, that its like a tug of war about where to lead the country so nothing gets done - the societal decay is very present. You need to go back to your history books. Europe was colonised a number of times. The roman empire for one. AND they took people as slaves and sold them. The Ottoman empire was also huge. The vikings invaded the British Isles and took slaves and annexed land (colonised). Don't say "oh that was a long time ago". It completely changed local culture, language and traditions.

If you are white and not Christian, you cannot live in Orania. If you're white and cannot speak Afrikaans, you cannot live in Orania. If you're white and have a criminal record, you cannot live in Orania. I have just proven that it has nothing to do with skin colour. Its a Christian cultural town to protect the Afrikaner culture and the Orania Ideal/ Vision. Everybody living there had to go through a stringent application process, criminal background check, do an in depth orientation course and exam, as well as an interview. It doesn't matter what skin colour you have. If you identify with the vision of Orania, if you love Afrikaans and can and want to speak Afrikaans, if you're a Christian, and if you don't have a criminal record, you can apply online for residency like everybody else. FYI, It is not unique in South Africa, in certain rural areas only members of a particular group are allowed to live on tribal land. Is a Zulu or Xhosa cultural village controversial? No. The K-word is not tolerated in Orania. Everybody who is not an Orania resident is referred to as a "buite-persoon", an outside person.I hope you have a better understanding now and can educate others as well.
