A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I'm Dean Wolfe, a mostly self-taught guitarist/composer/multi-instrumentalist/singer/producer/performer. I started out as a full time musician on the road at age 17 for two years, but went part-time ever since while holding day careers including as a chef and in spiritual health care while raising a family.
I've recorded hundreds of my own songs- many being used in media and award winning documentaries etc. I've been in several bands including a prog/jazz fusion act nFuze, performing in International Jazz festivals and jazz clubs. I abandoned the prog genre more or less back in the 1990s but have returned to it now with vigour a full 30 years later- so much prog I've ignored and quite frankly didn't have any idea about. My own prog band was rejected by record labels as "too progressive' in the late 80s, so i detoured into grunge, pop and alternative instead (then folk and acoustic fingerstyle guitar and ambient electric as well).

Really glad you like them! They're one of my favorite bands. "Vasemman käden hierarkia" is a 17 minutes long song but I think it might be their best one. I'm sure you would love it! "Ympyrä on viiva tomussa" is another 15 minutes long masterpiece

I went and listened to the album this comes from before watching your reaction to this song, and was absolutely blown away, I can't believed I missed it in 2020 and on a first listen, it's already a contender for my favorite album from that year.

Another track from Oranssi Pazuzu that I would highly recommend is Lahja. At some point it was on James Hetfields spotify-playlist, one can only wonder how he found it, since Oranssi Pazuzu still feels to be quite an underground band. OP's guitarist is also on another band, Kairon;IRSE!, which is sort of psychedelic progressive shoegaze/rock, also worth checking out.

Love Oranssi Pazuzu. I much prefer their previous album though, it builds slower and the hypnotic element is turned up to the max. You should check it out, I recommend "Saturaatio". I'd also recommend "Waste of Space Orchestra" which has some of the members from Oranssi Pazuzu and feels similar and well worth checking out.

@@deanwolfechannel They put out an album around a week ago, it's an avant-prog album that's getting a LOOOT of attention. I think it'd be worth your time doing a reaction, it might get some views and as well introduce you to a fantastic band that's innovating heavily.

Area is wonderful ! I think Area was the most progressive band in the world in70’s.
