My interpretation of this song: We spend all our thoughts and time chasing things that, in their final analysis, are not nearly worth as much as we have given up. We chase after answers, after gold. But none of that matters when we're gone. Meanwhile we put photos in our homes, the image of ourselves, our families, our friends, and those are the things we will miss most when they are gone. We don't want to get to the end and regret barely putting any time and effort into the most valuable things we have. We have this one life to live. We won't get another chance to be a better version of ourselves. Make it count. Focus on the things that matter most, the things that are eternal. In other words, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:19-21)
