Q8Pilot Great review I happen to purchase my copy already and gave it a quick check to make sure everything loaded and appear correct. I have to say that what I saw was just amazing with the amount of detail put in that package. I remember one of your video's where you mention about using the "no compression" in your display setting. I use to run with that setting but since that time I have to set mine back to max instead. This was due to another demanding scenery in order to keep from running out of VRAM on my Titan Pascal, but found the visuals to be acceptable with improve performance. I was on the fence about getting the payware airports at Heathrow and Gatwick. After seeing your video I think its safe to say that it won't hurt to have them even though I don't have them now, I can get by ATM. I am going to run a full flight from JFK over to the UK. I like to see how it performs and the endurance of the system as well and feeling of immersion when crossing the pond. Again great review. Bob

Having flown around this area a lot in my career without too much scrutiny of building types, it looks very good and with the trains and autos moving about very good indeed. I did notice some appearance differences in your video vs Mo's. In yours the bluish tint in the background seems to look more like P3D and FSX. I didn't find that in Mo's video. But I will go back and re-watch to see if it's me!

I purchased it already. It is excellent. I don't know if using satellite roads or xplane roads is better. Also I did have memory problems with a 1080Ti and 16GB of ram when flying over London. I was running nothing else just Xplane 11 at the time but it sometimes could not load textures. I am going to upgrade to 32GB of ram. I think EGCB Manchester City Airport and Heliport is the only ORBX airport released at moment near this scenery. I also want to say the scenery on the coastlines and around rivers is absolutely superb. This scenery also includes the Mach Loop. Liked!

Nice video, you definately need the number of world objects on it's highest setting to make best use of the Orbx scenery the 'way it was intended'. Overall look is great. I think XVision is a great choice as well, Orbx themselves are using it in there promo material. Just waiting to see what the effects are with 10.30 before I hand the cash over. Nice one!

Lovely video however, you appear to have installed this on your D:\ drive like I did & this changes a few landmarks i.e. Tower bridge is represented by a building coming out of the river Thames. Also no London Eye ! No Big Ben & if you fly low along a motorway the signs don't show local places - they all appear to be signed towards places in Europe which is utterly bizarre! None of this is your fault of course just my observation. To get round the issues I've had to install the whole program scenery & all on to my 500GB SSD drive. I love the quality of your videos - really high quality. & great colours.

@Ian Troup - yes, I have installed everything on my SSD hard drive. Mine is 1Tb, but that is filling up fast - it's almost half full with both this UK South scenery from OrbX as well as the newly installed UK Central scenery. I have every slider maxxed out and frame rates at Heathrow drop to about 12 fps, but that's ok, I can put up with that for a short time. I also have all the UK added airports that OrbX have released so far (Shoreham/Goodwood/Southampton/Cardiff/Manchester Barton). All really well done! But I wish my recent desktop purchase had at least a 2Tb SSD, because I'm looking forward to adding a lot more enhanced scenery.

Great review of this scenery, I had the pleasure to see this same scenery today at a Flightsim club near Manchester Airport which I'm a member of and there was 2 members running this one was on a 4K monitor and was stunning and even on the other one on a standard monitor looked very good. I asked if they had problems with download and install one said no problems but I'm not to sure myself as talking with the other guy he had some problems in the ini file just like you showed in your video but the biggest problem was the download as he said it installs by default to the C drive but is drive is a SSD small drive that just runs Windows 10 and would not have enough space for the big download of the scenery is other files like docs, photos,Flightsims are on there separate drives he said ORBX helped but I did not get the chance to find out how they did that. We only have a meeting every month so I will not be able to ask him how he got over this problem. It would be interesting to see if any others following you have had similar problems.

Just one small thing, I noticed you may have the same issue that ECGadget channel had, missing or odd looking points of interest which looked completely wrong, I read your installation tip, can I ask if you corrected these issues after this video as you seem to have the very same issues, ini file needed the order changing, airports followed by global and a, b,c orbx files following on. Thanks for watching! The ORBX installer does not offer this option, but yes you can move all your scenery to another disk if you wish.

You need to google symbolic links. I never did one till this scenery but I created one on win 10 easily to an x-plane 11 that has nothing else in it, it's for downloading or .exes like DD Design uses & can't locate my x-plane cause it's on another drive. It's like a shortcut but it is recognized by FTX where a shortcut is invisible to FTX. You can find simple instructions on how to do this on google. I use a junction link which is like the real file to FTX. I knew nothing about how to do this but easily with a little effort and a couple of tries got it & can do in my sleep now.Just make sure that any x-plane installation you link to works & can start an x-plane up. Try downloading a free scenery from them 1st. If I can do it, well you get me!

There are flaws, for sure. As you mentioned, the night lighting is "ok" but with a few glaring (see what I did there) quirks: the lighting on the Shard and the Walkie-Talkie looks a bit strange, and I'm pretty sure that in real life the London Tower castle is not completely covered with bright LED panels, as it appears to be in the sim. Overall, though, the package is a magnificent piece of work.

I am sorry to report that just past the Tower bridge heading towards the London Eye there are many, many buildings floating 1-2 stories off the ground. I will not flatten globally for a scenery like this. Inexcusable is the word that comes to mind. Both sides of the river & all the way down past Buckingham Palace, sad !

@@jakeperl5857 If your one of the major developers in the business for decades, then mesh is a must have skill or place the buildings individually at a lower height & I am not the 1st bring this to light. Windsor castle also not worth doing if that logic applies. Microsoft, has always been able through Aerosoft to handle mesh issues. Also DD has learned. I'm not throwing the scenery out but !!! Less time with FTX as a spybot & more resources toward MESH ! It's a 3D world !

Hi, after watching this superb video I downloaded it, I was using x-plane in Steam and it didn’t recognise it in Copland, after trying to get some help no one got back in touch, so I installed another copy of x-plane outside of Steam, deleted Orbx and re-installed orbx and still not working, I have checked that entries are installed in order but they’re not even there, any help would be appreciated

You don’t have your scenery in the right order, take a look at tower bridge next the shard around 6:30 mark, it’s depicted as a building. If your scenery is in the right order make sure you disable xeurope and gbpro. Just seen your ini file at the beginning you must place London landmarks above the ORBX entries because the London cityscape uses default LR object for example Tower Bridge.

I think I might be the only person less than enthusiastic about this project, and I say so knowing how much work has gone into it. However it suffers from all the usual overlay problems - autogen houses projecting into the roads, trains following each other less than a hundred yards apart - some appalling road networks (have a look at the Bristol Harbour interchange for an example). I find the colours of the landscape too lurid for the UK, and the trees just don't look very natural. I much prefer my ortho2xp scenery! The difficulty with x-plane is that you can only reduce the autogen houses and trees by the reducing the objects slider (tell me if I'm wrong!) which then affects the airports. I would have much preferred individually placed houses, buildings and trees near to the airports, and all the work going into giving us a much more complete set of landmarks, including pylons, piers etc.

In your video, some London landmark are not displayed or are distorted ( tower Bridge, London eye, House pf parliament . . ) The reason is that in the scenery_packs.ini the LR London landmark entriy has to be higher than the Orbx entries. Another point to add to the entries order in scenery_packs.ini.

Hi Cpt Grahn, in my opinion you have to pay attention at time 2:10 when Q8 Pilot starts to talk about scenary.ini. It's very important to configure correctly that file. I found a great help in XOrganizer, a freeware software that manages scenary, plugins and that stuff. Don't worry if you read that works on xplane 10.xx, works perfectly in v11.xx. I hope to be helpful, enjoy your flights ;)

Very cool scenery - but not working for me which isn't acceptable. I always get the message "could not locate image file for file [...]". I reinstalled the whole thing again, didn't work. I went to the ORBX forums and asked there. They told me to install C++ for visual studio 2013 but that didn't work too. After every step I did, I restarted my pc and after installing the C++ i deleted and installed the whole scenery again - now guess what didn't work again. Is maybe the X-Plane 11.30 beta the problem? But I also installed this on the last full version which didn't change anything - who could have imagined. Maybe someone here knows another method how I could this thing into working properly. I'm really frustrated and angry for I think valuable reasons. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Moin, ich hatte das gleiche Problem. Die Installation ist fehlerhaft, da die .jpg Files in .dds Files im folgenden Ordner umbenannt werden müssen. Dazu hat der Admin von Orbx XPlane 11 Support Forum eine convert.cmd zum Download bereitgestellt, die das übernimmt. Die Datei dann im folgenden Pfad öffnen X-Plane 11\Custom Scenery\Orbx_C_GB_South_TrueEarth_Orthos\textures

I got that message too at first, I opened FTX, found the scenery pack and clicked 'Verify files'. For some reason there were 700MB of files not downloaded... Maybe because I was flying while it was downloading! Hope that helps if you've not already solved it

ORBX makes the best OVERLAYS ! They should just make overlays , since Ortho4XP is free .

I made a z17 tile for downtown London attempting to correct floating buildings which did not work but it wasn't even close to their ortho & the water masks alone make it worth the price for me. Better than any I have ever generated & only 40 bucks with custom everything !

Orbx has released The Netherlands for Aerofly FS2 not for X-Plane. However They have alraedy made a few airport sceneries for X-Plane before TrueEarth GB, e. g. Broome, Plum Island, Nantucket, Meigs, Pearson...

Thanks to the cross platform download, ie you get a zip file, this works famously in a mac. I run it on a mac pro 5,1 6 core 3.33ghz with 32 gb ram, RX580 with 8 gb vram, output to a 4k 28" screen. I use max objects and max textue with no problems - yet.

This is not what we want to see or know. What we want to know is how does FPS play into this, what kind of processor is recommended and whether we can use 3rd party airport scenery with it. Orbx realized that the True Earth stuff was not a popular as they thought it would be, its not a great seller for them. Anything over 8gigs in size is just ridiculous. And on my older PC it was unflyable. too many stutter and issue.

Well tbh that's true. I'm flying short-medium haul atm so 737 and a320 is enough and xplane offers a lot of good add-ons by now so I guess I will switch step by step But buying most of my add-ons for xplane again " outch " says my wallet

They were kidding you on mate. The Welsh pronounce it Cardiff....or maybe Carediff if you want the accent. It's true the Welsh spelling is Caerdydd and the "dd" is pronounced "th" but if I were you I'd stick to Cardiff ;-)

Oh there are a ton of cars, but it depends on the area. Just like in real life =)

It's pronounced sort of like that. It's more like Kyarsdeeth but only in the welsh language which is spoken more in North Wales villages. Most of South Wales speak English, where it's pronounced Cardiff like you originally said. Honestly, unless you are Welsh or speak Welsh just call it Cardiff, 99.9% of the UK does.

I uninstalled it as I was not happy with one particular area, namely that around EGNX. I reverted to GBpro because the road features, the town of Castle Donnington, the race track, EGNX and surrounding areas seem more true to life. Additionally, the sloping runway of EGNX appears flattened. As to the airport itself, the prominent wind turbines disappear and there are odd pieces of structure that do not exist in life, jutting out of the more authentic buildings provided by: forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/40845-egnx-east-midlands-v2/ That being said, I just purchased ORBX Shoreham and am reinstalling GB South to get the full ORBX experience to see how it looks. If all is well, then I may have to set up a way to switch GB South off for the northern section.
