what the fuck this is legit good content, well edited and fun to watch. I’m honestly shocked you’re not bigger than you are, there’s a couple awkward spots here and there but for the most part you’ve got a great thing going here. Really unfortunate you’re not vibing with rivals 2 because it seems like that’s the wave right now, but hopefully doing just a video or two on it will get your channel some more exposure because you absolutely deserve it

Eh, I don't like it either but it's clearly not a bad game. It's not so much a sequel as it is a totally different game, which is good I suppose, because then Rivals 1 will have its own space to exist, and it wont die due to everyone leaving.

@@B-R23 I have had time to think about it, and I realized something. Rivals 1 was not a smash competitor, it was so different that it was on its own. I think Aether Studios realized that if they made a game the same as Rivals 1, they would only be competing against themselves, however the current market of platform fighters is quite in need of a smash-like game that is not by Nintendo. By competing against Nintendo, instead of dividing their own small playerbase, they have more room to expand and grow, and make the genre better. People want something like smash that is not by Nintendo, and so Aether Studios tried their hand where so many else have failed. If they can pull it off (which I think they will), it will not only be a good business decision, but good for the health of the platform fighter genre overall. I don't like it either, and if Nintendo would only be a better company and make newer smash titles more competitive in nature, we would not need a Smash competitor from Rivals 2, however that is not the case. And also, the more I think about it, the more I think Dan didn't want to replace Rivals 1. He spent so much time and effort building it into an amazing game, and even if their focus is on the next one, he didn't want to see it die. I think he secretly hopes Rivals 1 would become something like Melee, and Rivals 2 would become something like Ultimate, where the hardcore OG fans will always prefer the original.

floorhugging itself must be the worst platform fighter mechanic after shields, but not only turning offstage gameplay into shmash bros, BUT removing one of the core identitys of the game just to fanservice an entirely different fanbase is strange.
