Orchestra Tuning / Warm Up - Clean Sound

I uploaded this video because there are no other videos at the time with such a clean sound, concerning the warm up of an orchestra.
Don't know why but I just love this sound... :D

there has got to be a genre of music that takes the vibe of an orchestral tune up and turns it into the entire song. it's just got this feel to it that sounds like a very powerful ambience

Minimalism kind of does this! Steve Reich’s “Music For 18 Musicians” is a beautiful piece that utilizes small, fragmented phrases and stretches them out. Or, try the very, very beginning of Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring,” or Debussy’s “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun”! ☺️

When I went to my first classical concert I had no idea about how the concert worked, the normal things and the etiquette etc. I went completely blind and when I first heard the tuning and this incredible wall of power from the orchestra I was hooked. Something deep and powerful hit me then and I'll never forget that moment or feeling.

Yes. It may sound weird but it's actually one of the finest moments during a concert. You never know what might come in terms of concert performance but the tuning part never fails to give me a shiver. I've attended a couple of concerts where I should have left right after the orchestra finished tuning... ;O)

I've always loved despite just being a warm up/tune up, this has become an almost iconic part of hearing music live. Once I sat in on a showing and they had already performed their tune-ups prior to the show. It felt like something was missing.

I always hear this as a story - the piano starts it all off in roughly the same direction with the drone of the strings under everything. You can hear the characters each have their little moments, the trumpets doing a triumphant swell, the flute with a cheeky chirpy little melody on top occasionally, maybe a bassoon but I'm not sure, a gorgeous little bit of harp, all with their own distinct moments. And then towards the end there are so many competing melodies it starts to get pretty gross and discordant, and thats when the conductor taps and it all stops, ready to play ❤

There is a joke about a Japanese dignitary attending his first Western classical concert in the United States. At the end of the evening his host, the American ambassador asked him "So, what do you think?" The Japanese dignitary said "I liked the first piece the best." His American host then said "Do you mean the national anthem?" and he sang the first two lines. The Japanese dignitary looked puzzled. "No," he said. "It was before that." What actually got me to notice this feeling I got from orchestra tuning, was the opening on one night in Bangkok from chess. I was like 13 years first time I heard it. I was a musician my self. And I always wondered how they could write such an opening for a song, then a guy told me it’s orchestra tuning, and I was like: THAT’s A THING?? And I’ve been hooked ever since.
