greatest electronic band ever if you don t belive me see them live

I just did! Saw them in Manchester in November. My favourite '80's band. I turned 17 in '80 so I'm a true '80s' babe on the UK pub/club scene :) ... What precious memories of my youth.

This video is genius! It really helps show just how life is around us. People just refuse to acknowledge it as true. They refuse to believe that the world is a dark place for many many people. Compliments the song perfectly.

I have loved you as a group since I was 15 years old, the only one constant love in my life, beyond Boys, material nonsense and everything that comes with getting older. You’re music resonates deeply in my soul and spirit more than any other and in my times of desperation I have always sought you out for comfort (souvenir, if you leave and Dresden) and enjoyed lots of drunken nights out listening to Enola Gay and other mainstream hits, but the truth is that as an adult I have been either been too poor or too ill to see you live. I did book to see you in Manchester as my life, long ambition at 40 years old but the tickets did not arrrive and then I was too unwell to go, but I am determined to see you, I love you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Everyone bitching about how dark that video was, has obviously never really paid that close of attention to OMD's lyrics. They have always had a dark, cynical streak. This video was hilarious. Like a paper cut Adult Swim short lol. Anyone who won't let their kids watch this, needs to get a life, and grow the hell up. Your kids will see about 1,000 things worse than what's in this video in the next week alone on TV. Take a chill pill.

Sitting in the night cafe, Like a Hopper painting on a very bad day Drinking like I used to do, with a Manner that you hate me too, and then People come and people go, but Who they are I'll never know, and I'm Unaware of what they say and I I really don't care anyway, oh no Sitting in an empty room, at the Middle ending on a day of doom, and I'm Dreamin' like I used to do, of the Way it was when I met you, and the Memories they come and go, like Shadows on the stair below, A voyeur in the high window, as Unobserved I watch you go, oh no Sitting in the early train, on Sunday morning and it's pouring rain, and I'm Dying like I used to do with a Head and heart so full of you, and then Feelings come and feelings go, but When they stop I'll never know, and I'm Unaware of what you say, and I I really don't care anyway, oh no Sitting in the night cafe Sitting in the night cafe Sitting in the night cafe Sitting in the night cafe

Growing up though my teens in the early 80's, OMD were my favourite band. I loved the experimentation with form, the innovative use with samples and recordings of industrial machinery and obscure radio clips, the deliberate clash of classic pop and unusual use of rhythms and structure, the strong sense of melancholy and loss, and the obsession with themes of communication, travel, telegraphy, the thin ties and the bold graphic design. It all worked. But no matter how much I try, and it pains me to say it, but I simply can't get on board with their new stuff. It's far too clean, predictable, and safe. There's no genuine darkness, no mood, no atmosphere, no texture, and certainly no sense of hearing something completely unique anymore. There's very little genuine variation in their sound or structure, and there's really none of the bold experimentation of old. I hope they can prove me wrong with future releases.
