The roots on mine started to rot until I began to let it go almost dry. I also raised it to improve drainage as few plants like to sit in water unless they're a bog plant. Great video Brad as always.

Mine was doing extremely good from November 2019- August 2020 and it had 6 blooms at one point and I was extremely proud of myself. It got mold so I completely dried it out and treated the mold (bad idea because they’re cloud forest orchids). Well now my little chid is losing leaves and the tips are black. However I think it’s just from dehydration since the leaves first went pinks and then slowly turned black.

If they are growing in LFS, how are you keeping them from staying too wet in close to 100% humidity?

Is 55 in the summer and 50 in the winter too warm at night?

Great advice overall Brad, but a Highland Chamber is not practical for most of us. Has this growing routine been since you acquired the Dendrobium Cuthbertsonii years ago or most recent? They definitely look great, but I am just trying to understand long-term mortality. Also, it seems the love to grow into clay type soil (natural habitat). Perhaps they are seeking silica and Mg?

LGW3 Orchids & Exotics I know I’m a bit late, but if you try and get some of the hybrids they’re just slightly bigger but can take a lot more in terms of culture. I grow mine in a temperate greenhouse which is min 52f and maximum 80f daytime in the heat of summer. They actually like more light (all of them) - they should have a colour to the underside to the leaves. I find they bloom better for me that way - both species and hybrids. Plenty of fresh air and kept moist - and occasional almost dry. I hope that helped someone?

I'm having the hardest time giving them the right amount of water. .
