Very creative ways to mount orchids. The "diapers" are a clever way to trap and slow down the water from escaping.

Very cool. I have a dremel and can cut through anything. Diamond bits under a stream of water to get through ceramic, wood carving bits to get through unglazed pottery. Anyway, you gave me some ideas. Thanks.

I like the way you hang or mount your orchids more like the natural way it would in the wild. The Phalaenopsis is beautiful w/the huge leaf. I haven't had the best success w/potting my orchids in media so, I'm thinking about mounting them all on a good sized piece of bark and see how they do. I'm determined to master growing orchids like I have all my other plants. I need your prayers. LoL

Brad. just LOVE your ideas in this video. I live in the Caribbean and, have quite a few logs hanging about.I did mount a few on some logs. I saw how the orchid loved hanging DOWN (don't know the name). However, your ideas are GREAT. I will try to hang my orchids down. Just found your channel. Your enthusiasm is catching and. explanations understandable. Many thanks. Stay good.

Have you tried a tiny water bottle with a hole and a natural rope to the back that leads to where the plant is planted. The wicking effect will keep the orchid watered longer. You could attach the bottle to the lower back at the bottom. Also if you use a wood mount to make it waterproof on the back and bottom, just paint those areas with a few coats of silicon.

Hi Brad, have you considered using bonsai wire to mount your orchids? The Wire comes in a variety of gauges and it's very pliable easy to use and can be reused as well. It also blends well into the background, wood or moss etc...

Great ideas! I love it. I don't like having my orchids held up with a stick. So I've been experimenting letting them flop over, not sure how they like it. Your video has given me confidence. I love the side of the basket idea. Only thing I might add is a little wicker basket on the outside simply to cover up the plastic and tape. I wonder if that would work? Can't wait to try it. Thanks!

I have found that on the smaller orchids I cut a sponge, glue it to a branch then attach the orchid. When you water the sponge will absorb water a keep the orchid wet longer

I looked through the comments & didn’t see anything about it, but I thought perhaps you might know and could inform me. 😊 (Brad’s not the best at answering & I guess I’ll have to find his other video on this). Anyway, the “gutter guard” baskets ( 6:40 thru seven ) also have blue sponge(?) and the other basket has white whatever(?) ...🤔um, scouring pad maybe? Do you know what this is? I thought it might/could even be made of pool noodles. What do you think? Whatever Brad’s are made with, it sounds like you’re a fan of using a sponge... this way? That makes me think of growing one on a sea sponge. THAT would be really handsome! Best regards & happy growing! Thanks so much! 🤓☺️😊😁

I've got a phal with GIANT long roots I want to mount. I'm a little nervous about it though since they are SO long. I'm new to orchids and after several months of no growth (and no death yayyy) I really wanted to see the roots more for observations. AND I wanted to discourage the fungus gnats that want to set up shop in the bark mix I use. I've got him unpotted now and looking for a suitable mount...not sure what I'm going to do next. I live in WA state so the humidity should be alright...maybe I should park it next to the humidifier? I'm rambling and thinking at the same time...I'll go now lol!

Brad! Brilliant episode, i love the many ways you create out of the box. i am inspired once again. one of the main issues i have in my yard with the orchids is they dry out very fast, as i live in the hottest part of Maui, and in one of the windiest as well. i am going to experiment with some of the ideas you shared in this video. thank you love your channel always such a pleasure to see what you are up to next in your growing world.

I have mounted orchids, phals, cattleya mostly, a few others in between that would not mind, I use teak, west indian cherry wood, poui, and sapodilla, for those who dont know some of the names check it on google, and mostly all my orchids get morning to midday sun, I like your mounts though, I water them once a day mostly in the afternoon around four to five as long as its not rainy season, i live in the caribbean

Have you ever moved a well established monopodial from a pot into a basket? (in this case, I want to do it with a sobennikoffia). These have big fat roots like vandas/angreacum sesquipidale etc. I want to go media-less or with some kind of intent media. But I think basket culture may be good because the roots don't want to stay in the pot anyway.
