+MouseLilly Thank you and so far so good...I love cascading orchids that have such a wonderful texture and flow to it's structure...I always find them so appealing as mounted orchids...and I am truly happy to announce that it is doing well and it seems to like it's new home. :)

This definitely looks like it could become a new addiction for me to hunt for wood to mount orchids haha! I just love the way they look mounted on wood! Now I have to learn which orchids would naturally grow on wood and trees so I can start to do this. Thanks for the inspiration!

Very entertaining video. And!!! "Spray spray spraaaayyy, spray awaaaayyyy" :D even my boyfriend started laughing and singing while i was watching this :D you have a lovely personality :) I want to try this technique on some of my phals, this could work as i tend to overwater them, especially in the winter

Great ideas ! I have mounted two without treating the logs , just took a chance . I let the wood sit in the sun for a while . Thank God it worked out for me , so I learned a great lesson today . Thank you for your tips & let us know how your mounted plants are doing .😊

+Miche Thank you and I am so glad it did work out for you. There are many known disasters from taking home wood that has not been treated for insects and other infestations...in nature there wood material is susceptible to all sorts of insects including termites and other critters that could cause harm to your garden and even house structures...also there are some insects that are biting insects that can infest your garden and home environment that can cause harm to you and your pets....again thank goodness you didn't experience any of that but I have to say it is always worth taking the extra effort to prevent any possible mishaps. :)

If you soak the wood in water, then wrap it with tin foil, and put it in the oven, the effect will be a lot better. The steam generated will kill off anything.

I just found my nice shape of drift wood from back of my house. It shape tree trunk (base of tree) its huge, so i can not put it in oven. I just sprayed water from hose and then sprayed peroxides and of course brush it to get the green stuff clinging to to it. Am doing it right?? Pls do reply before J started this project... thanks

You are able to do that as well...I just wanted to make sure that I killed off any critters that may be burrowed deep within the wood. I am hoping that your project is a great success!! ..what are you planning to mount?

Do roots grow into the wood itself ? How do you get water to them?
@PictureMaria1
@PictureMaria1 7 жыл бұрын
Sandy Bo The roots will attach to the wood and will grow on the surface of it....to water, I just spray the orchid and the wood down with the water hose.

were those tillandsia usneoides at the start growing there naturally?
@PictureMaria1
@PictureMaria1 8 жыл бұрын
+Foozil I live in Florida and there are all sorts of tillandsia that grows natural here. This particular area was a bit dryer so the main air plant that you will see is the spanish moss...but if you go more into the marshy area with lots more humid, you will see an assortment of these airplanes just growing in its natural habitat. Florida is one of the states that Orchids and tillandsias grow abundantly.

I don't think my hubby would let me put a piece of tree in the oven, No matter how much foil was wrapped round it, Maybe I could do it on a BBQ with a lid lol, Can't wait to see how they develop, They would look nice inside the house too,

Heeeee heeeee...wait a minute I might just use that on my hubby if he ever decides to act up!!! LMBO!!! ...stay tuned for My Wild Pranking Adventures!!! LOL! ;)
