Thank you for the slow release fertilizer idea. Phals all looked healthy enough last 2 years. But few or no blooms. I put them all outside with only a few hours of sun and a bit of slow release fertilizer. I have a spectacular bloom season coming, some blooming already, 2 flower spikes on some. Even a keiki that formed after the crown was damaged mid summer has a spike. I live in zone 6a. Pennsylvania USA. One even began blooming in July. That spike has branched and a repeat bloom is coming. That one was outside late May and the nights can be cool into early June. An idea for other orchid people to try if you live in a temperate climate. Next year they are going outside late May. I want to see what happens. Happy New Year to all.

Happy Holidays! I can't wait to start the New Year. My orchids are doing great thanks to you. I would have killed them all if I never watched your videos LOL I start a new job soon. I will have to make time for my orchids. I am also trying to organize my house before I start the job. This includes my grow space. I have one cabinet like yours with the barrina lights. Then I have some plant shelves with GE grow lights and I have to say the orchids under the Barrinas are doing much better. I am thinking of buying more barrinas. Now that I will have an extra income I don't have to worry so much.😊

Thank you for your video! Your orchids are awesome as usual! The new shelf light is beautiful, but I was wondering if you could show the flowers also under a more 'natural' light! ..that's because I would love to see how I would see them if I buy them! Obviously I imagine it is a lot more work to film them in two settings and maybe it's only me.. 🥰🥰 Merry Christmas and a Happy New year! You are the reason I started with orchids, so another thank you! ❤️

It looks like a new growth in front and a root in back on the labukensis at the end of the video. I am not an expert, but I have a growth at the base of my new pot. noriko volcano art (new bulb) that looks exactly like that front one on yours, so I am guessing the structure at the back is a new root. Please keep us posted! Good luck!! 💖

Happy Holidays and New Year. I currently have a spike on a Dracula lotax (hopefully it blooms.) My new Perr Bangkok Sunset is still blooming. The smell is amazing. That was one of the first I added to my wishlist when I started watching your channel and finally found one this fall. Thanks for all the great videos with great tips.

@mogo55553 жыл бұрын
@@heathersgoinnuts I have it in a drafty north window. It’s now in a terrarium bc I couldn’t keep the humidity high enough. Still learning, but seems like the humidity has to stay over 60 percent to get a spike and keep it.

Hi Dani, Happy New Year to you and yours! and all MOG followers. I had a question where do you purchase your decorative pots, can you do a short video on that and their sizes. I have alot of 3 and 4 inch pots with a few exceptions for vandas that are in 6" pots, and would love to see if I can find anything similar to what you have. Thanks.

Happy New Year wishes from Colorado! All my orchids are rescues from the local supermarket. All Phals and I do lose one from time to time but I do my best and get excited to see new roots and leaves as much as flower spikes. I have never had a keiki but my daughter has had many. Her orchids are rescues as well. What is the difference and how can I encourage keikis?
@solarwinds-3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jan, Don't know about keikis but I know what you mean about super markets. These grocery stores have no idea what they are doing. They are the only source I have for orchids and I usually have to nurse them back to health. Yeah, it's true. Happy new year Jan!
@azcojan3 жыл бұрын
@@solarwinds- when in my doctor’s waiting room a year or so ago, I noticed a very sad orchid sitting by the window. I took her over to the receptionist and asked if I could try to nurse her back to health. As I was in the process of repotting her, the main plant fell apart and there was a tiny little Keike starting to grow. My only experience with one and she now has a lot of healthy roots and five new leaves! I hope she will bloom next year. I promised to return her to the office if she bloomed but now I’m having second thoughts. Maybe just loaning her to them for a couple of weeks with my misting bottle. What would you do? I’ve grown very attached to this little girl. I think by the color of her leaves that she will have deep purple blooms.
@rhodealexandre65833 жыл бұрын
@@azcojan It might sounds awful what I am about to say but I would not return the orchid to the office. If they ask I would just say it fell apart and is no more. Why? 1 - They probably do not have the time to care properly for the orchid hence they gave it to you so you can nurse it. 2 - Technically their orchid died.
@otisschroeder97903 жыл бұрын
@@azcojan yeah, I agree. Keep it. Their orchid died. RIP

What a wonderful display of orchids you have. I have trouble keeping up with my 16 orchids! Question: You mention in some of your vids about adding a layer of moss on top of the medium, to hold in moisture, but you don't say whether you spray the moss daily or the moss just lies there. I have been spraying mine. Keep up the good work.
