Hi Maria, I was at Animal Kingdom today and I just walked in and nearly flipped out. They had orchids everywhere that I NEVER noticed were there! All of them were growing in the treetops and on branches with tons of pseudobulbs and I just had to stop and take about an hour to just look up into the canopies of the trees entering the park and wandering around just spotting so many different orchids. Also, I was looking at a specific tree dedicated to just Vandas! it's a gorgeous sight to see, so if you ever go definitely keep an eye out. You never know what you might find!

WOW thanks for sharing...It's been so long since I been to Disney I can't even recall if I have ever went to Animal Kingdom...although I think I have...I just don't remember it as you have described it...but OH MY...It sounds so gorgeous! I am going to have to check it out. Also another great place to see orchids growing in nature is at botanical parks. There is one in Cocoa Beach where their orchids and other airplanes are massive and the tropical display and natural habitat is such a visual treat...and a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life. :)

I knew about aloe leaves to propagate plants as a sort of nutrient dense hydrogel medium, but I had never thought about it for orchids. Great idea!!! Thank you!! 😉👍

Thanks for the update on the wrap! The aloe vera treatment is a great idea. I have two aloe vera plants and I might use it for orchid treatments in the future!

I don't have a plant, but used 99.97 pure aloe gel that has been cold pressed, sold on Amazon. Been cleaning orchid leaves with 2 squirts in a little bowl of water, wonderful cleaner and makes shiny leaves. I used systemically also, saw some better growth

Dr. Maria what is that vanda that look like pine tree stem
@ZanesWildflora9 жыл бұрын
this is a really interesting idea, looking forward to updates! but I have an idea about this whole thing, we won't know how much this aloe vera thing works, and thats because it would be great using the aloe vera for example only on the lower half of that bare stem and we would see the differences between :)
@PictureMaria19 жыл бұрын
....you do have a good point...a lot of things can play a factor in the outcome...I may need more rescue orchids to do a more thorough experiment...majority of times keiki paste is only put on the knodes or the bumps to promote the growth...I actually don't believe this is as potent as keiki paste other than it provides the plant with extra energy to promote more growth such as fertilizer would do...the healthier the plant...the more it will grow....and because you are adding the extra moisture to it...it should also stimulate roots to grow therefore allowing the plant to also get the most adequate amount of water needed therefore allowing the plant healthier conditions to thrive...I believe the wrap along with the aloe will stimulate growth in general by getting the plant healthy enough by providing it the most beneficial conditions to grow...and giving it the extra assistance to boost new growth. I have had these the two plants for about 2 months and the last sickly vanda shown for 6 months without noticeable change until now...so I definitely know that the wrap definitely encourages new growth in roots and at a more rapid rate...now the difficult part I guess would be to prove that the aloe encourages kiekis also...if I get good results from this I will have to do a more thorough experiment using this method again. Thanks for suggesting.

There's nothing creepy about her voice!!! What IS creepy is a random stranger telling someone who is literally helping others to change her voice so you can "concentrate"... get a clue!

@@bluefernlove I agree .. she has a very nice voice .. I think Aby is talking about the way of speaking (show kind ..) rather than the voice itself :) thanks for the videos
