Fun battle report, as usual Skaven either wins big or loses big. However, I think you missed a rather crucial rule for the Doomwheel, at the end of every phase in which the Doomwheel has taken a wound, it must make an "out of control" test for every wound suffered that phase. This means it should have taken 3 tests after the orc's shooting phase from the wounds taken by the catapult. it probably wouldn't have been a massive difference in the end, but good to know for further games.

That we did. Afterwards we discussed our next lists and both of us felt like more Doomwheels would be fun to try out. It seemt like a really strong unit (even though some of it came down to sheer luck and us missing crucial rules - like the one you pointed out). No problem! I'm looking forward to your next battle, doomwheels certainly are funny and can be really strong, but as you pointed out in the video, many skaven machines and items have great potential but also some drawbacks.@@MiscastTable

1) Random movement is rolled and moved before charges (in compulsory movement) 2) You had 2 ranks and skavens slaves had 3 ranks. You don't count difference in number of ranks. You count an extra rank for every unit (5 models or more) and add +1 for each (max +3) for each additional rank. So you should just add +1 for Skavens not +3. You won that fight. Cheers Tomekhekin. You're completely right regarding our mistake in tallying up the results from the ranks. I don't know exactly why we did it the way we did. It must have slipped both of our minds, but thanks for pointing it out. :) regarding the random movement, I'm quite certain that compulsory movement comes after charges have been declared and resolved. I'll check the rules when I get back home from work. Here's a reference for 8th ed that we regularly use that seems to also indicate that it happens afterwards: 8th.whfb.app/movement/compulsory-moves

@@MiscastTable Yes you are right wit random movement (I am used to playing with Steam Tank and as far as I know he generates steam points at the beginning of the round). One more thing I am not skaven player but I think you add a turn number to roll for the bell. Not 100% sure of that.

It's kinda fun how such an old game has soo many layers of rules and different details that one needs to keep track of whilst playing. Admittedly, I need to study the skaven AB some more before our next game.

Skaven here. I don't think I did. I tried reading and understanding the wording "ref: 8th.whfb.app/special-rules/ringing-the-bell" and it didn't seem like they had to come out of the magic pool.

@@MiscastTable The camera usually needs higher contrast than our eyes do, so it can be hard to tell before you see it on playback. You still explain your actions enough that it's not strictly necessary to see the rolls to follow what happened. Also Skaven are kind of wild to play with or against, so random :P

Looking forward to watching. BSB cannot have a magic banner and also carry other magic items. Although for just an extra 15 points you could have had a warlock engineer carrying the skavenbrew 😉 Edit: Screaming Bell gives the Grey Seer a 4++ Don’t forget loss of control roll for the Doomwheel Also, Skaven really benefit from chaff because they are too weak to win a fair fight. Always include 2-3 rat darts.

Cheers Peteb, that lot's of good information for our upcoming games. I bet that Måns is quite happy to learn that I had even more mistakes in my army list. But we'll make corrections for our upcoming matches. I'll read up on the rat darts that you called them. I don't really remember all of the options that each unit had. I thought that their army book was really fun to read and had plenty of intersting options, making it a really fun experience to put together an army.

A rat dart is a unit of 6 giant rats and one pack master. Deployed only 2 wide but they can all attack. They are used to block and redirect. Also, let me know if you want me to post rules mistakes (or even tactical ones?) as I watch the video…

Ps You forgot to count the ranks in Grimgor’s unit. He would have won that combat but it is likely the slaves and Hell Pit would have done better next turn without hatred and choppers on the black orcs.

​@@peteb3131 yeah, that was a blunder on our account. I don't exactly know why we tallied up the difference instead of counting each of the orcs and skavens ranks.
