@@questtech7148 eh, even with inflation the wage isn't scaled with inflation like it was then, shit a trailer from a trailer park now costs more than a generic tract house then, rent is thousands of dollars a month for bad apartments, and car dependency is worse and cars are more expensive, cant even find a junker car for under 3k in detroit, some things like college are wildly more expensive, over 10x as much, gen x'ers could afford apartments and groceries, also not to mention the food was way less processed. to be fair some things are much better priced than what they were in the 90s, the price of electronics in the 90s makes me glad im in 2024.

just came from BK Today (2-26-23) only customer there. got a TX DBL Combo..on app 10.89 than instore almost 14$. went to table, no S/P no napkins...there was a ketchup pump to right of me, went to pump me some, and it was watered down (sigh) im like mannnn...everything to cut back on quality. had to go up to counter an get salt an napkins... end of meal two new customers walk in, one was homeless, not making fun but seriously had a bad stench, eating the last bites of my combo weren't pleasant and he was on the 8ft away from me. im like where was the BK like it was HS Days on down, 38 now. had to look up YT to see how it use to be.

Was never a fan of Burger King but then that's because it originally didn't do well in the UK. We had Wimpy instead so it was between Wimpy and McDonalds. I liked both but preferred McDonalds. Eventually Wimpy went down hill and the new UK Burger King owners bought Wimpy and turned them into Burger Kings.

Name still around now, different people running it and they all franchises only. We have one in town thats really good. More expensive than McDonald's but the burgers are bigger and more flavour.

Somehow that concept deteriorated a long time ago with some of these fast food places, and are dying a slow death in 2023. 10 years from now in 2033 you may very likely see these institutions of the 60s-90s gone. Here in Australia it was called the Ocean Catch, I used to love it until it disappeared from the menu sometime in the early 2000's. Burger King is known as Hungry Jack's in Australia, because in 1971 when they were setting up here, the name Burger King was already in use. I had my 6th birthday in 1988, at the then relatively new store at Knox Shopping Centre, Melbourne Australia, still there today- had a meal there just a couple of weeks ago, as I was home alone that evening and could not be bothered cooking for one.

I worked at a Burger King in Tampa from July 1987 until May 1990. I started off at $2.95 an hour and made it all the way up to $3.05 an hour just before I quit. This particular Burger King was a madhouse. I worked 4 nights a week from 7 pm until 4, 5, or 6 am! Even though we closed at 1 on weekdays and 3 on weekends, if there was a car in drive-thru, we had to keep the light on, which, in turn, would lure more customers. It was never-ending! I did everything there from cashiering, to expediting, to food prep, to cleaning, and portering. I did not drive and had to walk, in the dark with no sidewalk, a mile home to my waiting 3 babies and idiot husband. It was a strange time.

My favorite (Puerto Rican) manager ran to the back to let everyone know but he couldn't get it out in English, he was so excited. He kept saying "Serpico está aquí!!" (or something close to that). Of course I missed him because it took Hector so long to get it out. I quit to go work at Pizza Hut, which I loved.
