This Burger King restaurant is frozen in time. It's filled with retro wall decor, wooden booths and old soda machines. The restaurant first opened in 1987 at the concord mall in Wilmington, Delaware. Unfortunately, the restaurant closed 13 years ago and was sealed off behind a wall. The rest of the mall was renovated around it until a curious contractor opened the locked door. Now the mall's owners are hoping someone will step in and breathe new life into this vintage fast-food restaurant.

It was terrifying because you don't expect to see a perfectly preserved 80's restuarant hidden behind a featureless wall. The place is very well preserved almost as if people were just eating there five minutes ago, except there's nobody there except you inside this fossil of the past. How could you not be creeped out, walking into a place like that which has just been sitting under there under your nose and nobody has talked about it?

In the words of my lecturer of interpersonal communication, "Words have no meaning, except the meaning you assigned to them." The common consensus is that the word, terrifying, conjures an image of a shocking reaction to the presence of a thing, event or person that elicits a negative perception. Most of us disagree with the word, "terrifying", because there is nothing sinister about a place that is only accessible at a particular time, and at a particular place. It is only terrifying when someone decides to bulldoze this interior design artifact and nobody has built a time machine yet to go back to a time where people find.

No. I’ve worked with a mall manager. They do know every space with their mall map showing every single space with width, length and square foot, but that does not mean the manager knows what every single space looks like in person. I’ve gone to a space they showed me and they accidentally showed me a space that was ALREADY A STORE. So yeah some don’t know until they check and they only look at some of their spaces maybe two times a month but not all of them and also one other space they showed me was not even done like it had ladders and missing pieces from ceiling and wires hanging and he said sorry it’s not done

I worked at Burger King in the late 1980’s, then returned for much of the 1990’s as a manager. I’ve seen other videos exploring “lost” BK’s but the flaps on the trash cans with the writing… that took me back! I’m pretty sure they read something like, “please place your trash inside the receptacle and place the tray on top. Thank you.” That’s all from memory so it’s obviously going to be slightly different.

@@SalisburySnake our local mall was suffering so badly they allowed Dick's Sporting Goods to build a store in between the two halves of the mall with NO ACCESS into either part from inside. So if you're inside one half of the mall, you have to go outside the mall to get into Dick's, and then outside again to get to the rest of the mall. The store that used to be there (JC Penneys) you could just walk all the way through. Plus, the food court is gone now. There's no reason to even go there anymore.

Whoever gets the space, have the space inspected, take note on what needs a TLC Repair, but keep it as it is, so that way it can be a nice historical space and a unique tourist attraction to the mall. More malls need things like that to stay in business, Think of the Burger King/Concord Mall licensed souvenirs that could be sold out of the space, the mall and Burger King could benefit from selling them out of a Nostalgic space.

I remember some malls and shopping centers in the SE Pennsylvania, South Jersey, and Northern Delaware were slow in 2008-2009 because of the financial crisis. Some of them recovered in 2010, but started to dwindle again years later because of online shopping options. It maybe 15 years since I last stop at Concord Mall. It is not a convenient place to shop unless you live nearby or if you regularly travel on US 202 near the PA/DE border. While I would expect Concord Mall to dwindle over the last 13 years, it is negligent for mall management to not know that a significant retail space was walled off, unoccupied, and never repurposed over the same period.

I'd hate to see the quality of the rest of that mall if it's so poorly managed they're literally loosing stores.

People born after the 80s, thinks this is terrifying! This when people went to fast food restaurants and actually conversated! No cell phones, no social media, and no WiFi! And the food actually tasted better back then!😏

@@kryptism Same with McD's. You can now order a sandwich 5 ways from Sunday. "Oh you want a McChicken? Do you want that as a double or triple with 2 toppings or 20?" And they wonder why people gain so much weight! It use to be just a simple sandwich!

This probably isn’t really a Burger King, it could’ve been a Burger King but it probably was used for movie scenes or tv shows, because usually there’s no way people wouldn’t of found that out or demolished that sooner, but it can be renovated as a new Burger King. So 👑

This could be used by TV and film directors as a ready-made set for a program or film with a late 1980s setting. Since it's just sitting there, this would be extra cash for the mall owners.

What would be really cool is if that Burger King was reopened sometime and was kept the way it is so it could be a retro styled location! :)

That is so wild. I hope whoever buys it will keep it the way it is with modern upgrades for the kitchen of course. This reminds me of the 85 Toyota Camry my husband and I just bought, it was perfectly preserved for the last 30 years and looks and runs brand new. Needed a few things done, but it's like a time machine. I so miss the 80s and 90s.
