Great vid. I will be replacing my manual M240i when the time comes. Extra help on specking is very valuable. I’ve got black with red leather and would like to repeat, but I can’t see a red leather choice on the car speccer.

Great vid, even if some of the info doesnt help someone like myself for the packages due to my locale. I'm a US customer and have a build date the first week in March. We get a few more tire options between all season, performance run flats and non-performance run flats, but generally speaking, similar in packages and pricing. I would have loved to see the true M performace seats, but i can wait for the M2. 😀 One thing I would love to see, though it's rarely shown in reviews, is nighttime driving, lighting discussions, etc. Apart from that, keep doing what you're doing because it's brilliant!

I ordered mine last year to replace my F22 M240i without seeing any in real life and before any reviews came out. Arrived last month and not regretted it one bit. Maybe because it's currently a rare car (due to delivery delays) but i am seeing loads of photos being taken of it, whether its when i am driving or when at traffic lights. Not had a negative comment about it yet from anyone. Such a pity that some delivery dates now are late 2023.

I bought a shadowline, black sapphire with tacora red interior. It has the premium package, upgraded HK sound system and the cooling & high performance tire pack. I’ve been driving trucks for the last 16 years and owned a ‘73 2002 many years ago. I’ve been wanting a 1 or 2 series for years. My truck decided it was done and I bought the m240i. It was time to have fun driving again! This thing is fast and handles better than I imagined. It’s also a wonderful road trip car. I drove from San Francisco to LA and back averaging 33 mpg while enjoying a very comfortable ride in comfort mode. Put it in sport plus and the car is transformed. I spent more than I wanted but it was a clear choice for me compared to other cars in its price range.

I just ordered my US spec M240i in Portimao Blue with Cognac interior so it can be done for N. America ...can't wait! Test drove one last week here in Stuttgart and couldn't believe the power of the B58 engine. Got a feeling the advertised HP/torque numbers for this car are conservative !

Really look forward to seeing the M240i on the road. At first I wasn't sure when I saw it online, but really starting to like the looks now and just wonder how it'll look in the flesh. That purple metallic really suits it, imo!

Seemed to be quite a common theme with the new BMWs that the cars look better in person compared to the pictures, seen a few M3s, 4 Series and 2 Series Gran Coupes and all of them look so much better in person then they did in the pictures, the pictures don't tend to grab the proportions too well in these new styles, I'm guessing this 2 Series Coupe will also look good in person.

@@seechim For me it seems pointless too, it doesn’t even look like a 2 series, atleast the 4GC looks like a 4 series. If you want a 4 door 2 series, just get a 3 series or a 4GC

On Friday 24 Feb I updated my M240i order to include the No893 Wheel & Tyre pack as suggested by Joe. Thank you guys your detailed explanation on what was in this and other options. This has really helped me refine my order. Now she is Grey on Red leather and brakes with Gloss black replacement for all the external cerium grey. And textured aluminium instead of piano black interior. Build March due June 22.

I live in America and had mine since December and I can say it’s much better in person than the pictures have you believe. I was very unsure until I seen it. I traded from the previous generation and I agree styling leaves something to be desired the performance it’s on another level.

This video was brilliant. I wasn’t sure what the M Pack offered over the M240i Pro Pack, so was so grateful for someone talking through that. Ordered one last week, Sapphire Black, M240i Pro Pack, Tech Pack, Comfort Pack, M Pack with sunroof and illuminated accents. Can’t wait. Couldn't agree more with Joe's point about passive suspension on the m140. Ride never felt settled on uk roads and was the worst part of the car by far. In future I'll always be going with adaptive

Thanks for the video Joe, it was invaluable consumer advice! The ordering process can feel highly pressured (mostly self-induced) and it is easy to get a bit carried away 'in the moment'. Seeing you go through the spec on a car I am seriously considering (test drive pending) and with Tony's insight it has allowed me to apply a bit of rational thought before taking the plunge.

Tow bar on a m240i is great! Not many cars are fun to drive and have a towing capability. This is one of the reasons why I am warming bit to the new M240i. Really hoping that new M2 will also have it but doubt it. Jet-ski, snowmobile and so on need to be towed!

This is a really great video Joe! As said elsewhere it’s great to get the insightful knowledge of an expert dealer and to know what tools and resources they have to help out together a configuration. It’s also great to get a real world understanding of what an option does. As someone who prefers a bit of comfort I’ve always looked away from the M adaptive suspension thinking it was primarily to stiffen things up even more. Knowing that it actually gives you a wider range of options at both ends of the suspension setups is a revelation as is that the standard suspension is probably a little more sporty than you think as it has hit a job to do. Love that description! If we can do more of these and in particular any that go into new technologies and options as they come out so we can understand what they actually are and mean that would be great! Fantastic video though, great job 👏

Hi Joe- picking my M240I in Brooklyn Grey with Congnac leather which looks stunning on Saturday - what was really surprising is the 230I with similar spec was only £100 pm less so complete no brainer using Alphera finance.

Nice video, Joe. I ordered one after driving it at the Test Day in Munich last year. A big issue here in Ireland is the Pro Pack is a €3k extra (and it really would be a no-brainer at that) but it pushes the car into the top CO2 band. The result is the Pro Pack effectively becomes a €10k+ option here.

I just ordered a 330e M-sport in Belgium and heard from the dealer, who is a friend of mine, that they have received a mail from BMW that the HK sound system is available for order again. Don't know if that is across the full range but it appears that the possibility has been expanded below this M240i once more. Lead time is also much shorter now, "only" 4 months. I ordered a 320e about 7-8 months ago and that still hasn't arrived and I had to drop the HK sound system on that one. The chip shortage seems to be slowly getting better. Just a heads up for anyone looking to order. Apart from that, I love these speccing videos, keep making them!

Belgian here as well. Ordered an i4 M50 in January, dealer says delivery around July 2023. One can only hope they do it faster, but apparently Belgium did not get a lot of i4 (M50) allocations, compared to NL.

I was considering that one over the 330e M-sport but the dealer said the same: realistic delivery time is about at the start of 2024 and he didn't think it was going to be sooner, sorry to say. Official delivery time was indeed somewhere in 2023 but he said he would be surprised if that was accurate, realistically. It's apparently indeed because not a lot of M50's were allocated to Belgium, my friend said the same, and it appears to be hugely popular. I decided not to get one because I need my car sooner

Interesting that the UK doesn’t get many or rather any wheel options. In Germany you can have the standard wheels in full black too and some other design. But Pro Pack is kinda a must on the 240i anyway imo. Although the normal 220i M sport can have it too, which is a bit of a shame. And loved watching this, I’m also spending way way too much time on configurators, so this type of video is perfect for me. Glad you got inspired by Nick, he’s a great lad!

Watch out for M240 Pro Pack. It costs £1700 but pushes CO2 to the next bracket new car tax so actually adds £2150 to the price. I still ordered it. Delivery next month!

Nobody talks about the summer tire versus All season tire option....the all season tire option comes with a 130 mph governor. If you plan on tracking the car, this is an issue.

Love the M240i having had the previous fully loaded M235i which was a great car, but need the better mileage of the 230i plus with the right kit looks virtually the same.

Very smooth spec JA! I specced Same options but Brooklyn grey and red interior on 19s with sunroof. Still need to pull trigger but my heart says keep my m140i and add a new Nissan z in serian blue manual to the garage.

I've seem the purple one on the road around Hampshire. It looks amazing in purple!!! Not sure about the blue but thats your choice!... Lets hope its not as popular as the past Estoril blue.

Nice spec. I think Thundernight would also pair well with the cognac interior. Unfortunately here in Aus cognac interior is not currently an option but we are offered Tacora Red

In Oz you can have cognac leather but you have to upgrade to the MSports seats that do not have lumbar support. So extra cost and a thinner seat but they look great if your back can take it. Mine could not so I ordered Grey with red leather & red brakes both no cost options in Oz.

I get the angular racier lines, its the design direction they are going for these days. But its doesn't flow , that rear looks, well, rear ended in an accident. Surely looks better in person. Better than the M3.
