That Q-tip technique for the camouflage turned out great. Will have to keep that in mind if I ever get into historicals.

The nice airbrush cammo most people paint is probably the most unrealistic application of it, usually the crews would just use mops or old rags or whatever to paint cammo pattern on their tanks, so your MK4 Panzer is more authentic than the showroom cammo most people paint on their tanks.
@EsotericOrderGamers3 жыл бұрын
Huh, there you go, thanks for that. I didn't know how it was originally applied.

Cheers Phil. On reflection I'm not sure if brushwork wouldn't have had the same effect at this scale, but it was a different technique to try.

Very nice! These smaller ones can be a chore to paint but you did a great job. Personally I would have used stencils with an Airbrush for the Markings and just free hand airbrushed the camo, going Brush for these is old school and I love it ;)

Agrax Earthshade and Nuln Oil, the secret weapons of the average painter .. which includes me. ;) Do you use brush soap to clean the brush? My daughter told me to do so and it works pretty good. I bought all the dice, because of the transfer sheets for the tanks.

As a teenager, I had an unlikely convoy of Tamiya German vehicles on my bedroom shelf. A King Tiger, a Hanomag, a 222 Armoured Car and a Kubelwagon. My, they were painted horribly (the tank was a disgrace - done in Humbrol enamels - not thinned!). Wish I knew then what I know now (thanks KZbin). Took me right back watching you paint some Tanks. 4 years ago my camera and I spent many hours at the wonderful Bovington Tank Museum in Southern England. Tanks are pretty rough in reality, so this tutorial is spot on for the scale. If I could hand-paint US stars (at that scale), well - I'd be on KZbin I suppose.

Thankyou for that lovely little glimpse into your memories, I enjoyed it. Ahh, the old Humbrol enamels, that takes me back!

@@EsotericOrderGamers To say they were thick (and we were ignorant of thinner) is an understatement. The discovery of acrylics as we passed beyond Airfix Me109s and Revell battleships was a real epiphany. Airbrushes? The idea you could paint model kits with them was too 'esoteric' for me in the 70s/80s. All I've got to do is renovate pretty much the whole house and then I can paint some of my (many) miniatures, scenery and kits. The loft is bursting with pretty boxes, begging for unboxings galore.....

I was thinking of going for the same design for the camo Panzer tank, but I was going to use winter colors such as green, white, light gray, yellow, and light brown. Do you think that would look cool? Only the base color would really change.
