Similar to what I did with my Intruders. I spray primed them gloss black. Then I painted purple ink. Then picked out some of the details, mostly around the mouth. The infants on the queen were more subdued so not to detract from her. I drybrushed the floor silver then used some black wash on it. I wanted it dull looking.

I really like this method, it's quick and easy. I'll probably be trying this. One change though is if I decide to paint the head I'll probably also paint all the non-carapace parts of the body the same with the same gloss effect.

Excellent video! I just got in to hobby, started painting intruders like this tutorial (i painted the same way queen, breeders, creepers and larva also). As a beginner i only had trouble with last runefang steel layer where u only touch high points so i decided to skip that part. I am currently at part where i used semi-gloss varnish but i'm a bit disappointed how it tuned down blood and armor. Was thinking about doing 1 coat of gloss on head like in video and then maybe another one on head, bloodied parts and armor, to bring up that shine. All in all, great video and i hope i'll find something like this for my other miniatures. Thanks! :)

Thank you for the easy to follow and in depth furiously, this inspired me to try out mini painting. Can I use zenithal priming with this method? Glad you found it useful Margot. Wy not try something like Incubi Darkness for a first drybrush? Keep the black undercoat through so you have nice dark shadows. Then the light metallic drybrush over that on highlights. But experiment first with one figure so you get the effect you're after. Alternatively, you can try more Nightshade blue washes over the metallic. Or both!

Going to be getting the game soon and I want to follow your style for painting the miniatures. This is my first time though, and I guess my only question is how do you properly clean and take care of brushes?
@EsotericOrderGamers3 жыл бұрын
I'm embarrassingly bad at taking care of my brushes; I tend to wear them out and buy new ones. But what I should be doing is making sure paint doesn't reach (and especially dry at) the ferrule - the bit where the brush hits the metal collar - carefully washing them constantly, and after each session, cleaning them with The Master's Brush Cleaner and Preserver (google it).

I am totally new to miniature painting, but I am receiving nemesis soon and want to paint the figures myself. Out of all the painting videos on the intruders, I like your look the most. My original plan was to zenithal prime the figures and then wash them with a dark color. Can you recommend this? In your video you primed them only black and went from there with dry brushing with Leadbelcher base color. There is also a Leadbelcher primer spray can from citadel. Could I go black->leadbelcher->white for the primer and then wash with nuln oil? Thanks in advance.
@EsotericOrderGamers4 жыл бұрын
Hi Markus. You can, but you'll get a different effect. I wouldn't worry about the zenithal highlighting, just drybrush them as I have. And white over leadbelcher probably won't work. In short, you can experiment with whatever techniques you like - and you may come up with something better! - but if you want this result, just replicate what I've done. :)

Is there a time frame you would recommend to go by when painting? I just got the game and what i mean by what im asking, I lack the experience and talent of painting minis but still would like to paint them but just want to go basic for now by making the aliens a solid glossy black/blue and then each character the color of their character board/cards. Can I add more detail down the line or is better to go all out in a short time? I don't wanna ruin my minus but i dont want them to remain unpainted forever either lol
@EsotericOrderGamers2 жыл бұрын
I always believe it's better to have some paint on a mini than none at all. By all means do a basic job and just leave them unvarnished - you can always go back and clean up and add more detail until you're happy with the result and want to varnish them. I often paint minis quickly with contrast paints, and then later when I have more time, add highlighting and fine detail. Have fun!

@@EsotericOrderGamers forgive my ignorance as I'm very new when it comes to painting, but what do you mean by varnish? Im assuming its the last step that doed something along the lines of sealing and protecting the paint?
@EsotericOrderGamers2 жыл бұрын
@@Standby_JRB Yes, when you've finished a paint job it's good to seal it with a coat of spray varnish. Some people prefer matt, but I usually use a semi gloss.
