Being a Christian mystic was never meant to be something exceptional or rare. In Part 4 of the series, John, Alex, and Allen swap stories about what it looks like to live as ordinary, everyday mystics and how we're all meant to know God and the beauty of his kingdom in deep, profound ways. In this light, the Apostle John, St. Paul, and David were all mystics; certainly Adam and Eve were as well. Once we understand Christian mysticism as the daily experience of God as revealed in Jesus Christ, we can experience the normal life of an ordinary mystic.
The book John referenced is A Wind in the House of Islam by David Garrison.

I found myself weeping at the end of this. More and more I’m finding that He’s all I want.

Gentlemen, ruach haKodesh has been walking with me in this mystic way for the last 25 years. I told Abba I wanted truth, His truth, the truth He said we would worship Him in when speaking to us at the well. It's nice to hear others speaking about what He has been walking with me in His way of life. This is the 3rd video I have watched/listened to. Abba confirms in me that you are His children. Blessings as you continue this program.

that's amazing. Same here- I told him I want His truth. The real Jesus that is buried deep within what we made of Him, being ready to leave everything behind that is not true. "I want to know you, for any price". Only Him, that'd be enough. Seems, God still values that will as He has ever done. And I agree. A great video series.

Be a ‘beginner mind’ like a child shows up every week, for me. The more I know Him the more beginner … face down I wanna be with Him. Allen’s share about going back to a younger self with Jesus … sigh … this is so significant, for me. Being brave to show up despite the agreements I have made growing up is so so so relevant to where I am at in my walk. Thank you for sharing today and continuing to build since New Years. The end of show pause is so needed, for me. Thank you for adding this.

I am reading Restoration Year. A 365 - Day Devotional. Listening on April 30, my birthday. The Bible verse for today’s reading is Psalm 139:16. All the stages of my life were spread out before you, the days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.

Thank you John, Alex and Allen for your testimonies and guidance in this podcast. I am in awe that this is my relationship with Jesus already and I didn’t know what it’s called. I spiritually hear him say Look and he has sent a beautiful bird to delight me many times especially when I’ve been discouraged. He tells me something and then it happens and it blows my mind. He led me to the Pause app 2 years ago in an amazing way. John, your Restoration devotion has comforted me so much for my C-PTSD diagnosis and therapy journey.

Guys, thank you so much for this piece. What Allen shared about walking that 2 miles for many years after, really resonates. I was once abandoned (had lots of abandonment issues) by friends at a theme park. I thought they were just joking, but they didn't return. I walked the entire theme park twice looking for them. I never found them and also feel like I walked that park, looking for friends, home, belonging for many years after. Jesus is revealing that in all those years of searching, He always has been and is Home for my heart. Thank you all for being so real and honest. What a help!

I always had this misconception of mystics. I thought they were people who went way off grid in their theology, like the gnostics. I've had to learn to redefine what mystic actually means

John? Uhm. I thought about the acknowledgments in my book the other day. Thats a beautiful thing, because it means that you already see the roof of your home after a long walk. I asked Jesus about it, and he keeps saying:No. Nono. You do it that way, so I do: I wanna thank you. I thank you for a no. What I am given, its so me. Its so Jesus. And I think I would have never come to that place without a lot of stuff that had to be cleared out. So: Thank you. You were right. And Allen: Well, the coffee story a few weeks ago, it revealed something that has been a blind spot. I suddenly saw myself sitting on a stone stairs in the morning, a coffee in hand, while a Jesus festival was going on. I was surrounded by my oh so pentecostal friends. Belonging. Jesus said: "You would have clicked, you know that, gal? I saw and felt laughter and the cry for spiritual warriors resounding, taking me on board. I was 30, maybe. Afterwards, hurting and a lot of strange weird stuff happened within my community, a lot of hurting. Jesus showed me so kindly how much that has darkened my approach to all people of that kind. He made you a symbol, a brother I would have loved back then, With whom I would have fooled around, with whom I would have raised my hands, with whom I would have sincerely prayed people free. All because of a coffee cup connection, so to say. He brought such a lot of healing in that moment. So: Never underestimate the healthy effects of coffee in a lifetime. Thanks, folxs. Walk on like that.
