Thanks for this review. I just hope it doesn’t capture parts of my sunglasses or nose. Might consider buying one for videocapture while driving a car.

I had ordered the Ordro EP8 a few days ago (Amazon) and have watched just about every video on youtube (ep6-ep8) as well as having already downloaded and read their manual. I also downloaded the EP8 firmware (I like to be prepared) but I didn't find any mention (manual or videos, even on ordro's site) as to know if you need a firmware update. I know how to do it (video), but not if it needs it. I'd hate to install an older version than the new camera (in case Ordro hadn' t updated their website). * Anyone know how to check? I didn't see it in the OD CAM information (that's already installed on my phone too). Something else that I've been trying to find out, is that I wear glasses as well as BTE hearing aids (full mold in the ear). Not sure how that's going to work out with the EP camera's speaker pressing against the hearing aid mold. * Anyone out there that has this situation? On Meisech's video's, I thank Meisech for going to the trouble of making them. Seeing the differences of resolution/fps was nice to see as to what I can expect. I bought the EP8 w/o SD card and bought Sandisk's latest 256gb card. I will probably go 4k or 1920 depending on how they look. I have parrots and cats in which I expect to add to my youtube channel videos. His yard looks really nice and sculpted too. :)

Normally a firmware update corrects possible problems and releases additional functions. The 'RAR' file is dated June 27, 2022. So I believe this is the first update for EP8 after release. If everything works fine on your camera, I wouldn't install it specifically. As for hearing aids, I'm no expert, but what I can say is that the volume on my EP7 is quite loud. I think you can use the camera as well as a hearing aid at the same time. If it's too loud, I think you can always adjust the volume on your hearing aid.

@@Meisech I was a tech support programmer, and was used to working with alpha/beta testing. I'm used to bugs and such. Sometimes, it's fun searching for bugs. :) On the hearing aids, I was more concerned about the speaker pushing too much against the aid, causing irritation. I guess I'll find out as mine should be arriving this morning. I also just got VideoStudio 2022 so that I can mess around with the videos before posting on my channel. It will be nice to have decent quality and closeup clips. Thanks for the feedback, and have a fantastic New Year.

Just a follow-up (rcv'd my EP8 a few hours ago). As of the end of December, 2022, the EP8 that I just bought from Amazon, has a firmware vrs of 8/19/2022 v 2.0.2. If I had installed their current 6/2022 firmware found on their site (assuming the EP8 wasn't smart enough to check for version/date on replacing the firmware), I'd have downgraded my new camera. I didn't try, so I don't know if the camera would have stopped me before replacing a newer with an older code. On wearing hearing aids, with this EP8, and I ALSO wear wire rim glasses, it's doable, although the camera has turned down the volume on the aids a couple times. ;) I have to work on a good fit. Impressed so far.

@@imabirdbear Normally it would have accepted older firmware. But as I told you, if everything works properly, no need to replace it. It could also be that the June firmware is the original one. I'm glad everything is working as expected so far.

My ORDRO camera arrived today. Updated to firmware version 1.6.1. Initial tests show that 4K and 1080 at 30fps provide the clearest video. 60fps and above at most resolutions seem to be pixelated, yet the video file is at the specified resolution. I suspect this device is unable to deal with the bandwidth required for frame rates above 30fps without down-scaling and then interpolated to the set resolution; perhaps an improved algorithm could be used to improve the results. There is a possibility this is due to the fact that I was using the app to trigger the recordings between changing the video settings; needs to be repeated without the app running to see if this still occurs as the app may be forcing this behavior for the camera to cope with multitasking the app video stream, wifi and recording. A little bit disappointed with this as I would like to use the higher frame rates for certain content. That said, 4K and 1080 at 30fps are fine for most of my needs and preforms well otherwise, especially considering the price.

Well, I think you always have to make compromises with cameras like this. However, the fact that the impression that the picture is pixelated, especially at 60fps, is a little surprising. I didn't find any significant differences though. Since you are talking about firmware 1.6.1, I think you have the EP7 and not the EP8. I would have been interested in the data of the EP8.

@@Meisech Ah yes, forgot to mention that this is with a EP7. Regarding the pixelation issue, I will retest with another SD card and without the APP to eliminate these variables. I don't have a V30 card on hand. I'm very happy with it otherwise. Has the EP8 been released yet? I only found a listing on Aliexpress.

@@chrisellingson123 Yes, someone brought this to my attention. It is available from Banggood, Aliexpress, Alibaba and Tomtop. Oddly enough, it isn't listed on Ordro's website yet. I believe they want to sell their EP7 stock first before posting the EP8. Regarding the SD card, I had forgotten to suggest that you change the card to see if that changes anything.
