Hey I’m moving to coos bay. I always watch your videos. Do you ever catch halibut off the beach or in your boat?
@maddiermah58754 жыл бұрын
I think I've watched one of your videos before. And I just want to say that I finally went to Oregon last week, for the first time! I was mostly vacationing along the coastline: Seaside, Cannon Beach, Rockaway Beach, Manzanita. By the way, what kind of camera are you using? I bet you're sick of this question. 😬 Great video though!
@JudeDeras4 жыл бұрын
Maddie R did you fish out there? How did you like it? I am going out there Monday for a week. I might be moving there.
@maddiermah58754 жыл бұрын
@@JudeDeras Hi, I didn't fish out there. I was there for four days. I stayed in Rockaway Beach. It's a quiet city. The viewpoints along the coastline are just beautiful and breathtaking. Personally, the residents seem to be relaxed and polite, which is very different from what I'm used to. I'm sure you'll like it as much as I did.

hey PK if you had all the time you wanted how often can you take your boat out in oregon? seem like the swells are always to big.. nice video
@oregonlife4 жыл бұрын
My boat is only a 16 foot. so the swell must be 1-2 foot, and the wind under 10 mph. Usually, I get to go out about once a year, 2 if I'm lucky. Basically, it's very rare.

No, I've never caught a halibut from the surf here, or anywhere.

Oregon Life must be the temperature difference or Cali has more sandy bottoms. What about stripper or seas bass from the beach.. I seen you get a steel head we don’t get those down here

Hey PK, great video as always. Thanks for sharing your trips. The ODFW regs on rockfish just changed , you can no longer keep china, copper or quilback rockfish from a boat. But you can keep 7 general marine fish now instead of 5. Just changed yesterday I believe so you were probably fine on this trip, but just FYI for the next trip. Here is a link to the regs myodfw.com/recreation-report/fishing-report/marine-zone

I've been watching your videos for a year now. You have inspired me to start crabbing and fishing. I moved out to the coos bay area in December last year. I have been thinking of getting a boat but never been on one. I wish you would do a video on boating safety and what kind of gear and safety equipment you use for boating beginners or any advice you have would be appreciated. Thanks for all your great videos.
@Rick_Sanchez_C137_4 жыл бұрын
Scott Carlson I bought a new boat a couple years ago... I say go for it! There is tons of info out there, and ask everyone you know with a boat for their opinions... especially people who have worked on charter boats or as guides.... lots of professionals at the marina to talk to, bring an extra six pack and pick their brains.... And for weather, ignore NOAA websites and 800 numbers, they don’t update often enough, get the windy dot com app and never be caught off guard by bad weather.

If your salt water is clean there is nothing better than fresh crab boiled or steamed in ocean saltwater. A close runner up might be steamed in white wine but it is back quite a ways from the ocean water. No seasoning needed and if your pot is big enough boil them whole for the best flavor and clean them after they have cooked. Don't overcook, drop in after the water comes to a full boil and cook for no more than fifteen minutes (after it comes back to a boil) on very large crab less on smaller (especially if you clean them first). Like all seafood overcooking ruins the texture and flavor. Lots of crab butter is my preference but some like fresh lemon butter for dipping. Eat with french bread. The only way to beat it is having fresh King Crab!! Cooked the same way. Clams and muscles ditto.

Great vid Pk! Getting excited for my next trip out there. I really like the reds better also. I don't think I'll make the tournament in August, but shooting for September...hoping to bring a high school friend along, he's working in North Dakota...I'll do a swing-by, and pick him up. I was wondering if you used seaseme oil for the stir fry....it looked great! When you said you used franks, at first I understand why, because its a little vinegary, which releases the meat from the shell..but also thought I saw some apple cider vinegar...but you explained the franks was something other than their ussall hot sauce...gonna look for it. Tight lines 😎
