Hey just want to give you a big thank you! I went to Lincoln city for the first time and had never beach fished before, I researched your videos and bought those sand worms and caught a flounder and a lot of surf perch. You literally taught me how to beach fish and I’ll keep this knowledge as long as I live!

Hey, PK? Ever consider going for some Uni (urchins)? Something I've considered a number of times, but never done it. Mostly because I'm not sure I'd like it and killing something I won't eat doesn't sit well with me, even if it's just one. After feeding a couple bunnies to the coyotes because they were full of worms....did it to me.

I ran an commercial Urchin dive boat out of Santa Barbara for a bit back in 2013. We would run out to the Channel Islands 4 days a week (65 miles each way) in a 24 foot Radon. Averaged right at 4500 pounds per trip. Dove with an onboard hooka system in about 25-40 ft. of water, right in the middle of White Shark heaven (thats why I quit)...lol........I tried fresh Uni, 15 minutes out of the water and just never got used to it....maybe a texture thing.

Hello PK Awesome video. Good knotes. Do you use Steel Leaders? Can you catch Red Rock Crab or Dungeness or other edible crabs on the ciast coast shore?
@oregonlife4 жыл бұрын
No steel leaders. Yes, you can catch crabs from shore. Both reds and dungeness.

Great videos.....why don't you wade further out into the water to get your bait further out? And is there a size, gender and bag limit for Red Tailed Surf perch in Oregon?? I'm from Salem and plan on making some trips for these fish. I used to surf fish off the beaches in central California with very little success but love eating surf perch. Hope to meet you out there one of these days..

What kind of wader shoes are those? Do you like them as much as your new waders? 🎣🎣🎣
@oregonlife4 жыл бұрын
Can't remember the name. But I got them from Bi-Mart in Corvallis for about $65. They are pretty nice . .. so far. The new waders are much better than my old neoprene ones. Review is coming soon.

PK, my boyfriend and I are looking to go crabbing with a rod. Can you recommend a rod and reel and line weight? We watch your channel all the time and really enjoy it! Thank you... also have you heard of a crab daddy trap?
@oregonlife4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I got a few crab daddy, they work great and you don't need a rod for it. For tossing crab hawks, I use a heavy surf rod, like a Ugly Stik Big Water 11' rod. You want a long rod fishing from shore so you can cast far. For jetty crab hawking, I use a super heavy 12-13 foot surf rod. For line, 70-80# braid.
@stephenmilldrum24564 жыл бұрын
What weight of braided and mono line are you recommending? Your Amazon link doesn't specify line weight. The reel you recommend is good for up to 20 lbs and the rod up to 12 lbs. Thanks!
@oregonlife4 жыл бұрын
I use 15# for braid + mono.

Shift to different areas and observe waves, you’ll get the hang of it! You’ll have to use sand shrimp sometimes too

It does not matter what pound test fishing line or braided line you are using to catch these surf perch these fish are not line shy they do not spoke neither because they are used to seeing all this stuff it just a little information there
@elmerparedes11054 жыл бұрын
Personally I like 30lb braid with 20 lb flouro on the leader. Helps reduce the tangles from waves, while keeping sensitivity from braid, and lessens the chance of your line snapping during a false cast.
@coreyarendt72894 жыл бұрын
Are you 65 pound test braid with a 30 pound test bumper leader and my surf reg is 25 pound test Surf leader rig and I use from 2 oz sinker all the way up to 4 oz sinker

If this is a pregnant fish, why keep it out of the water for so long? I really like the videos but if we're all here because we like to catch fish, why not keep the ones that are propagating in the water so we can keep enjoying this sport.
