Keep up the great work!!! When they started talking about jetties at Oregon Inlet decades ago, one of the arguments was that beaches would be lost south of the inlet and homes would be destroyed due to interruption of sand flow caused by the jetty(s). Might be some interesting data to look at just how many homes have been lost to the sea and how much money has been spent on road work, dune replenishment, etc. in the last 40 years WITHOUT the jetties.

Great documentary. The fishing down at the Lockwood folly is some of the hardest on the east coast of NC. Most of the time I end up taking the trek up to the shallotte river. Keep up the good work!!

Thank you for telling their stories ❤️ What can we do to help them? I've been visiting the Outer Banks as much as possible since I was a baby. Same with my mom, and my Grandparents who started visiting when they were kids. Safe to say we've had a lot of delicious meals over the years thanks to those watermen. This is the first year we will be visiting without my grandparents. As tough as that's going to be, I'm forever grateful for the lifetime of memories we've shared there. Surely there is an environmentally sound way to put in a jetty? I wish the parks and environmental groups would partner with these watermen, and focus their "fight" on offshore wind farms instead.

Back from 82-85I was stationed on the Point Brown and Oregon Inlet Coast Guard Station (The historical station). Back then the inlet was a political nightmare. The channel was constantly changing, and we would bump bottom anytime we would get underway. They had the Army Corp dredge "Sweitzer" was a permanent attachment near the station. In 1982 we responded to the F/V Lois Joyce hard aground to the south side of the channel. Now it's a permanent icon on the charts as a wreck.

The New episode 11 has the Lois Joyce story in it. Thank you for your service, it's always been a struggle hasn't it?!

Need to reach out to Lt. Governor Mark Robinson. Drag him down to the coast and put him on a few boats.

I’ve fished the Cape Fear area my whole life and served as a Coast Guardsman at Station Oak Island. From Carolina Beach to Little River, all of those inlets are horribly dangerous (except CF River).

Why does Nc have so many inlet issues? It really makes you think.

@@CXCVIDEO NC is unique in that our entire coast is lined with barrier islands. Almost every one of those islands is owned by the US Park Service, State of NC, or private Land Trust. Every time a jetty is proposed, the environmentalists shut it down. That seems to be the common denominator to me.

I live and fishnet of Rhode Island, the offshore windmills are one the single biggest rip off of taxpayer money. They are constantly out of service all 5 were out of service the entire summer of 2021 and in the fall they had one working. I can't remember the last time I have seen all 5 spinning on the same day, now they want to install hundreds?

When I was filming them I was confused haha the I was told that they rarely operate at the same time. One was not moving at all and one was slightly swaying. Stay tuned for Wind and Sea!

One thing about those old wood/fiberglass trawlers, you will work 5x harder shrimping than you will on a new-er steel hull boat. If you've never worked on one, you have never been broken in right.

When Hurricane Hazel opened a small inlet pretty close to where blue point marina stands nature may have known what it was doing. I live about a mile from lockwood folley on the icw and my family has been there since before Hurricane Hazel I’ve been going outta lockwood over 150 days a year for over 30 years and I’ve seen 30 or so boats hit the wreck in the last 5 years and had a few friends sink. Why would the government preserve a civil war ship wreck that has the potential to kill multiple people everyday.

It's a damn shame, preservation would be in a museum not a waterway.
