While I was hoping to get this game at $15, I’ve been really itching to play it again so I guess I’ll just settle for the current sale at $18. For those reading it’ll be on sale until April 1, 2023 :D It’s been going on sale every month or two, so for those who are willing to wait longer, the 50% off might not be too far off.

The original rogue-like. All the memories of dying and failing over and over but still want to do the one more try. Glad this holds up to our nostalgia. The price is a little high unfortunately.

It's steap. I agree 20 would be much better, but if I can get 30+ hours of fun gaming over time in between other games. It's great and a good pallet cleanser, between the heavy hitters. I played a 1993 version at my grandparents' hours for hours when my folks were working, I can almost her the event sounds from that old one when things happen on this Switch version, and its on the switch instead of a mid ninties computer in my Gran's living room. I have been looking for an Oregon Trail for a Nintendo handheld that offered the same type of adventure for my nostalgia, and this one hits the mark but is updated that it doesn't feel dated.

you couldn't purchase the oregon trail anywhere unfortunately. I had this game(the original remake) for both my ios mobile and andriod way back in 2011 and it has since been delisted from both platforms. My original ipad and iphone 4 can still play these games but no other device can play them. Fast foward now and the apple arcade was the only place to play this. Thank the heavens that this is now purchasable!!!!!! I have it for my steam deck and when I get paid again I will pick it up for switch before gameloft probably delist it again...... I am so happy to be playing Oregon Trail on Current hardware and I can care less about price..... I will purchase this game for 70 dollars if gameloft was to ask for it as I love me some oregon trail. This 42 year old is soooooooo happy to have this game back! 🤗

@@marcusbarbagallo8218 The game has random events so IMO to have it on multiple devices is great as it has infinite replayability. I don’t need it on both switch and the deck but I love that I can have them both! 🤗

I was soooooo excited when I learned that Oregon Trail was coming to the Switch! The Nintendo Switch is pretty much the only video game console I use now. I used to play this game in school when I was a kid (I'm almost 40 years old) and Oregon Trail Day at school was the best! I came across your video because I wanted to see what other people thought about it. I also wanted to find out if you could buy a physical copy of the game? Right now, it looks like it's only available for digital download. I prefer to have the physical copy of games because I'm not sure what happens to digital games if something were to happen to my Switch (or if I wanted to upgrade my Switch).

Digital downloads are tied to your account so if you get a new switch and log into your switch account, there's a tab called "downloads" and you can see all your purchases and redownload any of them at any time.

@@tawnykc83 Hey, you're 110% justified for being apprehensive about going digital as far as gaming goes. I've heard horror stories from a couple people who spent ton of money on Wii games(may have been Wii U?) but Nintendo decided to shut down the Nintendo store on the console, so now if they ever have to replace their Wii, they have no way of redownloading the game. Now I don't envision the Nintendo store being shut down in the near future as far as on the Switch, but Nintendo has done this on at least the Wii, possibly the Wii U, and on the DS/3DS early next year. To me its really not a safe bet spending tons of money on digital games. I have bought a handful of games digitally when they were running sales but I don't have much money tied up in these games, so in 10 years or so if I'm no longer allowed to access the store on say, my PS4, I'm not screwed out of too much money or games. I think digital gaming is the future of gaming, but it's definitely not in the present, still have some hurdles to overcome

uhm yep it's a 40 euros switch physical in EU tho... I dunno it still looks heavily overpriced to me. I had this as a kid on an Atari 1040ste tho so I'll probably buy it anyway ;)

This is on the Switch? I didn't realize this game was rated teen. I would get it, but I don't like the price of this game. I played Oregon Trail 5th edition. That was great. I also played the older Deluxe edition which doesn't have a very reliable health system. People can die even if the health condition says fair. The DSI version is great too, but it does kind of suck that you can't hunt whenever you want. I also tried out one of the really old versions (the one on a computer screen and not a typewriter device). Organ Trail is my favorite version and I got that for around $5. The 5th Edition has the California Trail too. I don't think any other versions do that, at least not any that I played. It's weird that the DSI version lacks that even though there appears to be two alternate routes which both lead to Oregon apparently (possibly different areas of Oregon). 2:27 You didn't just drink that did you? That's not good it's Nitroglycerin! Don't move, don't breathe, don't do anything except pray. I think the DSI version can take over an hour and so does Organ Trail which can take over two. 3:49 Can't you go around? A buffalo only gave you 30 pounds of food? That's unrealistic. All other versions I played have one buffalo containing more meat than you can carry. $30 is a bit high since Organ Trail is around $5 and is still very good.

It's free on the app store with mac.... I beat it on easy setting in one night. I had three useful people and one idiot who was dead weight. My first useful person who was my negotiator drowned when I crossed a river. My second useful person who was my medic/fisherman/hunter just buggered off because he was full of despair. That left my leader and my most useless person, and the useless person hung out until the very end.
