Youth 71Five Ministries serves young people in the Rogue Valley community in Oregon, and one of its goals is to help them learn about God and have a relationship with Jesus Christ. To fulfill that mission, it needs to hire employees who share its Christian faith and can spread the Gospel to those whom they encounter.
But the state of Oregon accused 71Five of “discrimination” for hiring people who share its faith, and the state revoked hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants it had previously awarded the ministry. ADF attorneys filed a lawsuit on behalf of 71Five to defend its religious freedom and the freedom of all ministries to make hiring decisions without unconstitutional government interference.
