Great tips! This makes me want to reorganize my fridge! With pre-washing berries though, I've actually found if I let them sit in water with a little white vinegar for 5-10 minutes then strain them and transfer them to tupperware...they last way longer before getting moldy!

Sharrah, love this video, I am kinda obsessed when it comes to the fridge. I keep all my salad fixed up for a few days in ball glass jars. Then when I need a salad, it is already ready for the most part when I need one. I keep cucumbers, snap peas, onions, etc . in seperate jars all in a small tote, and it saves so much space too. I also use cute placemats in the fridge which you can put under your plastic liner, and it really decorates the fridge. Last I always use Clorox Anywhere spray in my fridge, and wipe it down daily. Just thought I would share with you. Love you so much Sharrah, your one of my favorite you tubers I follow, besides your mom too. Have a great day ! XOXO ~ Mary in TX
@sammi-joreviews11356 жыл бұрын
Mrs. Mary Lamb What type of placemats do you use? Anything that has the potential of keeping me from wrecking a entire shelf is definitely worth my giving it a try. I've bumped & outright knocked over far more in our fridge than the girls have over the last 30yrs. I don't know if anyone has tried this or not but I'm seriously considering buying 2 quart size & 2 pint size containers to store the btw my coconut milk & the regular milk then take it a step further for whipping cream & coffee creamers. It's my hope that separating out gallon milk into quart containers that it might make it easier for me to lift out of the fridge. (my right arm has nerve damage but my left has the worse shoulder & elbow joints making it difficult to lift & not drop these items).
@mrs.marylamb69646 жыл бұрын
I use the wine theme placemats from the dollar tree, and cut them to size and tape them together for my shelves. It is so easy and really makes your fridge look so pretty and colorful. I clean my fridge and kitchen, counters, microwave with Clorox Anywhere spray. It is my favorite to clean with. Hope you can find the placemats ! Thanks for asking too !!! ~ Mary
@sammi-joreviews11356 жыл бұрын
Mrs. Mary Lamb Thank you so much for the info. Definitely checking them out. My refrigerator is next on my list of things to do. I need to do a purge there too. Ah, w/regards to Sharrah's request: The most gross thing I found in our fridge over the years was dental retainers; both left their retainers in a storage container in the fridge = Nope, it wasn't a retainer storage container. I'm thankful their pediatric dental hygienist was kind enough to offer to clean it thoroughly for us. Both of them! (face-palm) I really like the idea of red placemats. Not sure hubby will be willing to go that far but since I love the burgundy wine color vs the faded red that was on our kitchen wall when we bought the place. It was rather hideous wallpaper. I pulled it down 2 springs after we moved in. On Easter Sunday much to my husband's chagrin. The red color would make the fridge shelves pop. The interior of my fridge is white & clear so a splash of color will enhance it emboldens in a way that will let me notice it even w/o the visual acuity. After the fridge is taken care of, I plan to attach the appliances that need to slip down to the area under the cabinets again to make room for my MIL's stand mixer. It will help me me make dough without causing horrible spasms in my shoulder & arm to come back for the reason of doing too much. There's lots more baking & many bread & dips to find, mix, & create - esp with a clean kitchen & clean fridge. :) Thanks again so much. This helped a great deal.

Weirdest thing I ever found in my fridge: a mouse, back when I was living in London. Our place was very clean, just in case someone is wondering :-), but mice do find their way anywhere in that city. That poor little fellow must have run in when we opened the door, took something out and probably closed it without looking! Anyway, it was still alive, thank god, just veeeeery slow. I scooped it up and carried it outside, and it scurried away. Had a big (!!) scrubbing session after that.

I used to not wash any fruits or veg until ready to use them. Until, that is, I found out that soaking them in a 10:1 vinegar and water solution makes them last much, much longer. Like strawberries that stay fresh and unmoldy for upwards of two weeks. Try it. It works. Great video, thanks.~ Lisa

Great advice, we do same. The only difference we soak berries 20 minutes in cool water with a splash of apple cider vinegar. Then rinse, lay on dish towel to dry a bit, then we pat dry batches at a time, store in Debbie Meyer green boxes with a piece of paper towel on bottom. This method is the longest lasting we found living in hot humid South Florida in the everglades.

THANK YOU for advocating against food prep way in advance for produce. I've never understood how people can do this. Although I will say tomatoes and potatoes should not be kept in the fridge until they have been sliced, the fridge is what makes their textures turn grainy! As for weird things in the fridge, when I was little I would pretend to make potions by mixing lots of liquids together. I shoved one in the fridge one day before I had to leave for dance practice and my mom freaked!
