ORGANIZE AND DECLUTTER MY ENTIRE MAKEUP COLLECTION

Today, I'm organizing my entire makeup collection and getting rid of anything that's old or never used. I'm currently on a "no buy" and would love to maintain this level or cleanliness moving forward.
One of the goals I set for myself was to finish the year with less makeup than I started it with and while I doubt that will be possible, this is a start! Quality over quantity! xx

I can't imagine how much makeup, all you creators wind up with. It's a bit overwhelming. But I love that you show us how hard it is to find what to keep and not. Your opening statements about the frustration of seeing people do huge hauls and then huge, wasteful declutters is exactly how I've been feeling concerning KZbin and my own shopping habits! I'm with you. I love luxury products but I'm in no way trying to throw my money away. I've been doing a low-buy this year and have successfully used more than I've brought in. Still, I started a strict no-buy this month. My vanity is just too full. I'm noticing too many products starting to turn in this Florida climate and I want to use them and get them out of my collection before they're not pleasant to use anymore. This, like all of Erin's content, is great. However, when I see multiples of any category being kept [with comments of "I really love this" or "this makes my skin look wonderful"] I think -- surely, if you're keeping two dozen foundations, there must be a short list of six that are truly wonderful and significantly better than the others. I'd like to see a video where Erin does tests of all of her faves/saves in a category and then says, "these few are THE BEST. I'll try other things when sent to me, but these and only these are the faves-raveys that I will repurchase and never be without." Even for someone whose day job is makeup, there have to be those few things -- like the Chanel essentials that Erin has mentioned in some of the videos, that are the constant favorites and the rest are nice but no great loss if they're discontinued.

The psychology of why we keep/“save” items is so intriguing. It’s human nature to keep items for multiple reasons like money spent, “just in case”, keeping items for scenarios of the person we think we might become (more in clothing than makeup because you know…I’m sure someone will invite me to a black tie event that a sequin ball gown will be needed). It’s hard sometimes to admit we made purchasing mistakes but keeping an item to expiration definitely isn’t the answer…let it go to be celebrated by someone who will love the item. I kinda wish the Kon Mari trend would return. It was inspiring to see people reevaluate their possessions.

I LOVE a declutter!!! Cleaning everything makes me so happy ☺️ I had tonnes of pallets and used to try every new thing that came out, and about a year ago I decluttered everything, only kept my fave Chanels and put myself on a strict low buy. It has been so satisfying and I find that I really appreciate the products I do have.

I admire and love you so much for being mindful of your purchases and caring about sustainability. HOWEVER, please do not be so harsh on yourself. Let's face it, you are a beauty content creator. You're obviously going to buy more than the average makeup user! With that said, I know that you probably think that you're being wasteful nonetheless despite being a beauty youtuber. But think about it this way - you're helping your viewers buy less makeup (and thus be less wasteful) buying and trying new product releases reviewing them for us on camera. You don't even know how much money you saved me with your swatches and reviews. I'm pretty sure others here will also feel the same way. I respect that you're trying to be more sustainable. But I wouldn't want you to feel bad about yourself for being wasteful, because the chances are... you're probably helping a lot of people make more sustainable purchasing decision by helping them purchase only what they really need :)

I feel like back then we shopped for makeup to make us feel better, but now decluttering is our therapy! That’s exactly how I feel when I donate old clothes, purses and perfume! It’s the Marie kondo method. We are so at peace tossing out what’s not needed😄😌

I have yet to purchase a Chanel foundation because I have not been color checked yet. I’m a number 4 in the Armani Foundation and I have a funny feeling I am going to be a BD21 or BD31 Chanel. I’m not sure. But all my makeup is in one tall drawer. I sell what spills over to make the loss not so much.

What type of system works for receiving PR? The Container Store has chic solutions. There are multiple systems that might allow for more drawers when PR comes in and Holiday releases. Great work Dear Erin! I can't imagine keeping up with it all. You do so much for us!

50+ foundation? I think on average we use 1 bottle/ 6 months, one might have an extra in the travel/ workbag, plus 1 more in a summer shade, so 3-4 top I would say. They will go off Erin :( they will. It's good that you are conscious though.

Lol trust me, you don't want these crusty, dusty leftovers! I obviously love beauty as well, but I will tell you, when it becomes a job or career there is a shift that happens slowly. Now when I receive packages, it's a work obligation because I know the brands have expectations of content even if it's not something I agreed to do. BUT, there is a point when you simply forget about all of the products you own and it becomes impossible to stay organized. Hi why hold on to older products just declutter them , yes i know you have a lot but you desperately need to really need to send a big portion to PROJECT BEAUTY SHARE , they take used makeup and they will sanitise them and distribute to people who need them , they are brilliant by taking makeup off your hands.
