Great advice. I have been using keywords since I started with FCP but now embarking on a project with the most footage I've ever generated for a Final Cut Project. I'm getting into Smart Folders for this one because it just makes sense. I've said for years that if an editor doesn't know what footage is available to work with, it's like not having it at all. You must take the time to sift and log your materials. When the idea hits you must be able to lay your hands on the appropriate sound bite, footage, graphic OR you risk missing an opportunity for a moment of genius to occur.

Serge, let me give you 200 more claps for this brief explanation of the powerful features using smart collection. FYI, I have in the past worked on Multicam editing for sermons captured on 5 devices and audio captured in 3 languages. But currently I am working on a song video in which I used three cameras to record two music clips shot at 12 locations: more than 72 clips! Now FCPX has only 60 angles! I knew that it was a tough task for me and didn't know how exactly to proceed. It was at this stage that this your tutorial has been to me a lifebuoy! I had watched this video two years ago [at which time I gave you a 100 claps], but I had to revise this tutorial twice during this week to learnt about your teaching concerning smart collections. To put it succinctly: without knowing how to make a smart collection, it would have been a super-Herucalean task for me to prepare a Multicam clip easily. Thanks from the depths of my heart but not from my purse. May Gos bless you dear Serge with all of his blessings on earth and in heaven.

I really like this video! I've watched it twice and have used your organizing tips for my new FCPX project. I've only been using these tips for a few days and I can already tell it is going to save me a lot of time that I used to spend searching for the media I want to use but can't find. Thanks for posting this - it's very helpful.

Please keep them coming. Have you done a video or have a suggestion for manipulating music audio to your footage? Basically, in what ways can the audio be manipulated to fit the video?

can you make smart collections default - lets say you allways want a smart collection with compounds - which I use a lot. I would like compounds to be a default smart collection in a new library? Is that possible without creating the "compound" smart collection every time I make a new library

Say I run out of space, and I delete the folder that has these clips will the smart collection show the files as missing or will it be saved in Final Cut like sound effects?

Thanks, Serge. Is there a way to label different favorited portions of a longer interview clip? Example: 10 min video will have portions I favorite as the best parts, but when trying to rename each, it renames all the favorited clips. Thanks in advance

Hello hello. Here is my question. I have an event library with more than 1000 keywords. It has a lot of similar keywords like : feel goog, feel good face, feel good joy, feel good movement, feel good audience. So there are a lot of keywords but I want to make sure that when I type feel good in the search engine during editing, these keywords are displayed immediately. If I create a smart collection for each similar keyword it will take me several hours. How can this be done efficiently?
