That was fantastic, seriously been trying to find a trekpak solution for my cases and there was thing to find. But the DIY you provide is brilliant, it's worth the time and money. After all, you're going to customize it to your own case anyway, why not make it exactly the way you want it! This deserves all my subscriptions and likes, fantastic job!!!

oh, and I used red corflute with black EVA foam for a nice colour contrast...and for the corners, cut away every second corflute channel (like TrekPak does) and the end result is super neat.

Oh you faaaancy! Hahaha I didn't actually know about the corflute corner cutting that makes perfect sense thanks!

@@BuyersGuyd If I could post a photo or video of how I cut it, I would. It requires a little care as they're narrow slices and you only want to go through one layer of corflute plastic...but the corners are super neat.

Great job! I'm totally going to try this! I want to make a huge case out of a heavy duty plastic tote so I can just put all my. gear in one case! My "cinema rig" doesn't fit in any case I own at the moment. SUPER frustrating to have to pull it apart every time I need to travel somewhere with it. Thank you!

@@BuyersGuyd I was looking to buy one for my nanuk 935. After seeing the $175 price tag and noticing it was constructed of inexpensive foam/coraplast, I came to youtube for a DIY. Low and behold the community did not disappoint. I do have to give thanks to trekpak for the idea though, I'll be making dividers for my camping and fishing bins after I finish my photography case.

Does it still hold up a year after? How about buying the original TrekPak pins? They don't seem prohibitively expensive (about 20USD for 10) and I would imagine they would hold the boards tighter in place?
@BuyersGuyd
@BuyersGuyd 2 жыл бұрын
It's still going strong and works brilliantly. I use it every day! As for the trekpak pins I think they'd look a bit nicer but I don't think they'd be functionally any different. One thing I'd definitely recommend is cutting an extra piece of the padding to be the same size as the section you're putting gear into to stop the wall sections angling into empty sections. Real trekpak also has this problem
@ZakiWasik
@ZakiWasik 2 жыл бұрын
@@BuyersGuyd good to know. I was thinking exactly about the issue of the sections not being anchored on towards the bottom. That's why I figured more rigid and potentially longer pins might work better, but apparently the original ones don't even solve this 🙄 Good to know after I already ordered my original set. Perhaps I'll return it and give the DIY solution a shot, but on the other hand it is not really cost prohibitive for me, although if it works well I might be interested in doing the same system for 4-5 other cases (some of which are not Peli) so at that point cost might become a major factor.

I made mine with coat hanger wire cut to 3” lengths and bent with needle nose pliers, easy peasy and cost exactly nothing.

I did this, except I used 3mm weed mat pins from Bunnings as the joining pins. They sit slightly proud so there's no need to add a tag for removal later.

I imagining making a moquette instead of taking measurements. I would lay out my tools and make a moquette with cardboard so i don’t have to reference measurements, and I can use the moquette will become my template/stencil!

additional suggestion based on my experience diy'ing a trekpak....add a styrofoam 10-15mm base or floor for each compartment created by the 'wall/divider'. reason for this was to stop the bottom of the wall/divider moving.....the bobby pins only restrain the top of the wall/divider....my cases are stored flat, but get loaded/transported vertically or on their sides....kit moves around....i didn't want my stuff moving at all - so had to come up with a way of restraining the bottom of the wall/dividers.

Why is the roll of adhesive foam from Bunnings better than the adhesive foam from Clark?

Better value for size. The Clark rubber was like A4 sheets or maybe A3 but the roll was like 3 metres

@@BuyersGuyd lol only made sense to me when my case came in and had all this pink foam in it. I was like I could use this lmao. You gave me the inspiration to to me and my friends cases. Good stuff man, I did find these pins at Walmart the section I think there called greening pins were like 50 of them were like a dollar, they gave me a wider place for the felt to put on. I also found this lightweight angled aluminum that has adhesive for wall mounting I put that about an inch below the top of each side of the case. With this I’m able to put my laptop table lift on those rails and I can dump footage on my laptop while allowing good air to ventilate.
