I use D ring albums while I’m working on them. Once I have a year, or an event comp,eye, then I move it into post albums, because I like hoe they show off double pages which is mostly what I scrap. Like you, I am working on many years and events at a time, so the D rings make it easier to move pages around until I’m done.

That’s a great method! That’s pretty much what my friend Chelsey does that I mentioned. I am still scrapping back in 2013 sometimes so it doesn’t work for me but I agree that the post-bound albums do make the layouts look better!

I, too, scrapbook in random order. Some photos are more inspiring or fun or i already have paper and ephemera for. I haven’t ever journaled on them 😳 which may pose a problem 26 years later 😬. I probably have about 200-300 pages to put into albums. For now they are in plastic bins laying horizontally to keep from being damaged. Just haven’t had the money for so many page protectors. Thank you for sharing your methods (and creative layouts)!
@JaymaMalme8 ай бұрын
I totally get that…some photos are definitely more inspiring to scrapbook. Or it’s more fun if you already have the perfect paper and ephemera for them. Bins work just fine! The page protectors can definitely add up. Maybe just get a package or two at a time and slowly add them.

I have my completed layouts in a pile. Sometimes I journal before I start a layout but most times I write my journaling before filing in the albums.

I'm definitely bad about letting layouts stack up! I have a hefty little stack right now all waiting for journaling and then I need to put 2021-22 into albums...I wish I could hire out this part of the process! I love seeing your beautiful layouts again and your albums look so perfect all lined up on the shelf with the years on the spine.

I’d love to hire that out too! 😂

I have a recent layouts album. I pop them into that as soon asi’m done creating it. I then put them away (into my Library of Memories system) when the album is nearly full. I’ve got a music stand that I can put an open album on to though so I may have two recently completed albums and move onto there. We’ll see. Thanks for filming this.

3 ring is my go to as I also scrap out of order. I don't file the pages until complete, sometimes I only have basic layout done and later embellishments then journaling. Other times I finish it straight off, depends on the subject and mood of the scrapper! My albums will be given to family members when I feel they are done and as I hope they may add something of their own, the 3 ring will stay.

Great tips Jayma! I love looking at my layouts after they are done so I display them for a little while on some old shutter doors in my kitchen. I switch them out as I completed new layouts…getting them into albums…. Hmmmm, I have to work on that! 😂😂

Love this! I was a post bound album user, but recently went to ring bound. Depending on the album is what decides if it goes immediately in the album or if I build a pile.

I noticed that you have many years of albums. Does where you purchase them keep those colors for a long time? What I mean is, it looks like the teal color you have, that company has had for a while. I wouldn’t want to start with a certain color and then in a couple of years they don’t offer that color anymore. I like them to be all the same as shown in your video. Hope that makes sense.
@JaymaMalme8 ай бұрын
That makes perfect sense and if I were to do it over again, I’d choose black for that reason! I actually recently purchased enough of these teal albums to go thru my youngest kid in high school. Then if this color is no longer available I will switch to black and then I know by color where we start after HS.

My completed pages are stored in a pizza box until I sort them out and put them in a a D-ring album.
@louisebrislane66078 ай бұрын
I put my pages away at the time or they would never get put away. If I was buying an album with plastic sleeves I would fill it up with the sleeves & then as I scrap I would then slide the finished page into its correct sleeve. I have books with pages in them already waiting for me to get around to sticking photos onto the pages & finishing them off altogether with journaling. I just have never gotten around to getting the photos printed, thanks to covid. Now with my health issues I am unable to travel & so they wait... maybe one day someone in the family will be nice enough to offer to help me get them printed... 🤣🤣🤣

If I don’t put pages away fairly soon I forget what I did and do them. Again
@JaymaMalme3 күн бұрын
I have done that a time or two! LOL! I think since I also make videos of my layouts, they are more cemented in my brain after all the editing time looking at the photos again. 😂😂😂

How many pages do each of these types of albums hold?
@JaymaMalme8 ай бұрын
Hi Sharon! In the teal d-ring album I showed I have 22 page protectors. There is still a little room to add more. My fullest D-ring has 32 page protectors and it has a little alligator mouth going. I wouldn’t add any more. Probably about 28-30 is my sweet spot. But it would vary based on how much dimension and embellishments you have, how many flip flaps and pocket plus, etc. My pages are all over the board on how dimensional they are. The post-bound albums can fit more because of the expandable spine, so it’s personal preference. I probably still wouldn’t do more than around 30-35 personally just so it doesn’t get too unsteady and heavy.

The CTMH ones are by FAR the best I’ve ever used. They went out of business but Stampin’ Up will be carrying the CTMH protectors starting tomorrow. They will be here: www.stampinup.com/categories/shop-products/featured-products/close-to-my-heart?demoid=2298508
