Or even paint them with cheap acrylic paint. We have a some that we bought for kids' toys yrs ago & the fabric has disintegrated (the brightly coloured awful 'fabric' they use for grocery bags), leaving the cardboard structure all bare. I wish I'd painted over the fabric years ago & they'd still be intact; now I don't even have a template/pattern & have to use my brain LOL.

As the second youngest of five homeschooled kids from the mid-90’s to the early 2010’s, cabinets of craft and sewing supplies is a mood, especially considering how much sewing, and creating, and stuff my family does, simply because we can

Hello Bianca. I loved this video. I completely relate to the Apothecary thing from yesteryear. My grandparents were Pharmacists and had their own Pharmacy from the mid '20's to the mid 80's. As a child I explored the attic finding all these strange concoctions, among them an amber bottle labelled "powder from the great beast's fingernails" My brother and I couldn't get over that one. When we asked my grandmother she laughed it off saying. "That's what people asked for back in the days" My brother and I developed a real interest in finding "dusty old treasures" in my grandparents home and business. Alas, it's all turned to dust!

I love when I see videos of other Crafty Sewists who are maximalists- cause sometimes I almost feel like, morally bad, cause I enjoy having my stuff! Which is crazy- I am allowed to have things that just exist to be pretty and bring me aesthetic joy!!!!!

When I saw the thumbnail, I smiled and thought, "Yay!!!!" I love a sewing room organization video! (now if only I would get off my lazy bum and organize my own.) What I especially liked about this video was how you crafted your aesthetic. It isn't my aesthetic, but the amount of thought and dedication you put into making a room that you spend so much time in feel like your personal space is wonderful. If your work space is happier, you are more happy when working. Great Job!!

Oh, and for your plant, I recommend watering thoroughly only once a week (I would do it right in that sink so the excess water drains away), and you should change that light bulb right above it to a full spectrum grow light. You can get them on Amazon (the white light ones, not the pink or blue ones). That way whenever you're working down there, it'll get great light, and those lights are bright enough for your own use as well. I have them in my own sewing room where I have tons of plants, so highly recommend 💚

I relate so hard to this video. Nicely arranged “clutter” that is both decorative and useful is my happy place. Frequently used tools need to be handy and visible, or I’ll be awful about actually putting them “away” where they belong when I’m done. Seeing the beautiful things I own, especially things I’ve made, makes me incredibly happy. I love seeing how other creative people arrange their spaces to be both functional and #aesthetic.

Hi! You can use the smaller pieces of fabric to make pockets, the inside part that is not visible (or for adding in seam pockets in garments without pockets). If it's a pretty print/colour, you can make a long and narrow heas scarf or a square bandana...also masks or zippered pouches

I use scraps like this for making matching gloves, hat bands, bags, belts, head scarf/bandanas, fabric flowers for brooches or hats or shoe clips. You can also use it to bulk up flimsier fabric when flatlining. My favorite use for fabric scraps too small is to make "coleslaw" and use it to fill stuffed animal or projects to avoid polyfill and recycle every last scrap I can.

Your craft room looks great, dust and all! I very seldom dust. I'm sure my issue is a hereditary condition. lol Thank you for calling yourself a seamstress! Lots of people are calling themselves Sewists, which is awesome if that makes them happy! I'm old fashioned, in some ways, so I'll call myself a seamstress as long as I live but I believe we should all do what brings us joy, except for hurting others of course! I love your butterflies. I was trying to decide what Spring theme I want to do- I've got Summer, Fall and Winter covered, but I'm not a huge flower fan so your butterfly idea would work perfectly! I absolutely love caterpillars as well so I will incorporate them too! Thank you for sharing your talent with the world! Blessings to all in love and light!🙏🏼💜🙏🏼💙🙏🏼🧡🙏🏼💛🙏🏼💚🙏🏼

God my craft room (a spare bedroom) was a nightmare. I followed the Marie Kondo method of putting all of the same items together, only for this room I put all of the same CRAFT together. Reason I could never find a tool in my desk drawer was because it was buried in among tools I wasn’t using. I used to do jewellery making years ago and the plastic storage drawers I had for them took up half the room, despite 3/4 of them being just air! My fabric stash is still ridiculous, and I genuinely don’t have enough space for it until I actually sew up some of the items I intend to make, so I’ve forbidden myself from buying any new fabric, with the exception of muslin. And bias tape. Oh and interfacing. And buttons. And zips…

In my community (metro Richmond, VA) there are large metal boxes that look like “fancy” trash receptacles. The sign on them says “Clothes and Shoes for Kids.” The school benefits, when they are located at the school. And they will accept any textiles - old towels, sheets and fabric scraps. I do know what happens after they items go in the box. . .

I love my sewing machines. Singer 66k, Singer 15-91, White 1913 treadle, Pfaff 260, Pfaff 263, Pfaff 1055 (1980's model) and a new Singer fashion mate that was just given to me. I am going to sell the Pfaff's soon due to their weight and not using them as much as the Singer 15-91. So glad you have a 66k they are the best straight stitch machine. I find the older machines are so much more dependable and seem to be the most "user friendly". Very lil' can go wrong with the 66k that cant be fixed by the user. The electrical wiring tends to need replacing before anything else, with my own experiences.

For fabric that I have that's not big enough to do anything with, I cut it up into really small pieces and slowly add it to some sort of bin until there's enough to make a pet bed to donate to the shelter. It's my way of trying to recycle scraps so I don't feel as bad about my offcuts. The shelters around me are okay with donations like that as long as it can be washed and that it's not filled with foam or anything an animal could get sick on when/if they rip it open.

Aaaah the intro if this video is such a mood, lol. I definitely need to overhaul my computer area, ugh. Until then: carefully placed camera shots. This was fun! I don't know anything about plants, but I do know a bit about sewing for dolls if you wanted any tips for those scraps, lol.

*Fabric Scrap Suggestion* - Make yourself Zafu-style meditation pillows. Use your smaller scraps to stuff (also useful if you need to cut up a bunch of coleslaw for something like a bustle pad). You could also use your rolling-cutter to cut up larger scraps into stuffing. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

I always set aside any scraps for future repairs or alterations to clothes I make.

I love the Singer! I recently refurbished a Singer Model 127 Treadle Sewing Machine from 1923 on my own. I want to learn how to use it.

I understand your situation completely. Having finished my Phd and amassing the accompanying library, there was an assortment of sewing and crafts stored in my study as well. I finally have the library, office, sewing, writing, painting, embroidery, drawing, jewellery, crocheting, craft room in the space of 3x3 mt. It's packed in like Tetris! And gets messy very easily. It's always a challenge to tidy up after each project when I want to just get on with the next one!
