@@rmora1 I wish I had read your comment a year ago, being new to woodworking, I did exactly what you describe! Pegboard seemed simple, but what they neglect to tell you is that mdf is very susceptible to humidity, living in Eastern Canada 100% humidity is a normal day in summer. As we near the end of the first summer with pegboard walls, it's all warped and drooping depending on the weight of tools, so this winter's project will likely be a French cleat wall!

I like modular wall systems like this. I’m building a van into a camper, and on the kitchen galley wall I’d like to have a modular system like this so that I could rearrange shallow shelving as needed. The shelving will mostly hold pint and quart size canning jars. The van will generate plenty of vibration so I’m not sure if this vinyl PVC would be strong enough, but I sure love the concept.

Best screws: Torx and Robertson. WORST screws: Phillips & its cousin Pozidrive, and straight slot. I use Torx wherever possible, except on electrical stuff.
@Verb1302 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Very clean and easy system. For the cost, I think I like my 3/4" plywood French cleat system better. It definitely didn't take that much more time. I was putting up 8' rows of French cleats, just about as fast. The real extra effort came in making all the cleats. It took about an hour with one helper, a track saw, and a table saw to make one 4x8' plywood sheet into a large stack of cleats, that gave me wall cleats, and hanger cleats enough to go floor to ceiling (8 vertical feet starting 18" off the ground), in 12 linear feet of wall. Oh, but I almost forgot, you should really convert to a 1/2" plywood wall from sheet rock. That will add some time too. Nice part of my shop system is when I move, all my cabinets, shelves and hangers that use the French cleat system, will come off the wall and only the wall cleats will stay. Then my new shop will needs wall cleats installed and all my storage goes back on the wall with the same cabinets, shelves, and hangers. As I move for my job every 3-4 years, that's a huge time and cost saver when I move everything to a new shop so often. How long do you think this manufacturer will keep making this PVC system, and is it compatible with other commercial systems?

... and as he already has a CnC standing around, making some fancy neat-looking purpose-build hooks/holders would be extra easy. Like the two-can-holder he fabricates here, but nicer-looking. As it's all standard sizes/thicknesses/distances, very fast to draw up.

The worst part about that type of storage like peg board or other variations, is that the hooks fall off really easy when removing the item it's holding. How well do those stay in place? For example, the extension cords, do the hooks stay sturdy when taking one down to use it?

its $60 for 9 sqft, for those who don't understand, its equivalent to 3'x3' and thats including the top and bottom pieces "which adds 3in" but doesnt include attachment accessories. it probably cost $5 or less to mold that pvc in that shape. you have about $300 worth of shelving supplies and put up about $300 worth of tools. if youre not collaging that wall, its not even worth it. time to look for other options Edit: I mean no disrespect those those who understand sqft. but my gf sent me this saying its a good idea, and its 9 sqft for only $60. i said, do you realize how small that is? she said its taller than you! smh this comment is for ppl just looking for wall storage and dont have a lot of f-around money
