In this video i have explained the organs of speech in Phonetics.To set the stage, I begin with an engaging introduction to phonetics, emphasizing its role in deciphering the physical aspects of speech sounds. It serves as the foundational framework upon which we build our understanding of language. Concurrently, I introduce phonology, the complementary study that delves into the abstract and cognitive dimensions of speech sound, creating a holistic perspective of linguistics.

As we dive deeper, we turn our attention to the remarkable speech organs, each playing a unique role in shaping the sounds we produce.
Larynx: Often referred to as the voice box, the larynx houses the vocal cords and serves as the primary source of sound production. Its intricate coordination of muscle and airflow is what enables us to create a wide range of vocal sounds.
Pharynx: Positioned higher up in the vocal tract, the pharynx acts as a crucial resonating chamber. By altering its shape, we can fine-tune the timbre and resonance of our speech sounds, adding nuance and richness to our language.
Soft Palate: Moving into the oral cavity, we encounter the soft palate. This flexible structure controls the airflow through the nasal passages. Its manipulation is pivotal in distinguishing between nasal and non-nasal sounds in various languages.
Hard Palate: Adjacent to the soft palate, the hard palate plays a pivotal role in speech articulation. It functions as a barrier, momentarily obstructing the flow of air to create specific consonant sounds. Its position in the mouth is essential in crafting different linguistic sounds.
Alveolar Ridge: Situated just behind the upper front teeth, the alveolar ridge serves as a contact point for the tongue. This region is fundamental for producing consonant sounds like "t" and "d."
Lips: The lips are perhaps the most visually noticeable of all speech organs. They're essential in articulating a wide array of sounds, from the bilabial "p" and "b" to the labiodental "f" and "v."
Teeth: Positioned adjacent to the lips, the teeth influence speech by modifying the airflow and tongue placement. Dental sounds like "th" (as in "thick" or "this") are created by the interaction between the tongue and teeth.
