Be aware that if you are older, those Lupron shot's have a 20 percent chance of leaving you castrated for life.... ....BET YOU WEREN'T WARNED BY YOUR DICTATOR

Very informative video. I have been on Orgovyx since 3/8/21 and completed 28 radiation treatments on 6/29/21. My initial course of treatment was to stay on Orgovyx up to 6 months. My urologist recently told me he thought I should continue taking Orgovyx for a total of 18 months. Is there any advantage to taking the drug for that long? I am also concerned about the side effects of long term low testosterone. Any help you can give me is appreciated.

Hello, The duration of hormone therapy is determined by the characteristics of your particular prostate cancer - i.e. whether you are at a low, intermediate, or high risk of recurring after the treatments ends. Feel free to contact our helpline if you would like to discuss your specific case. Our contact information is here: pcri.org/helpline 18 months of hormone therapy is typical in cases in which there is a high risk of the cancer recurring after treatment. With Orgovyx, specifically, there is discussion of possibly extending the duration of hormone therapy by a few months since its testosterone lowering properties tend to wear off faster after treatment ends compared to other agents that are used to lower testosterone (e.g. Lupron, Trelstar, Eligard), and those other agents were used in the clinical trials to determine the optimal duration of treatment. Dr. Scholz discusses that phenomenon in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWGZd6CLatt4abs

Yes, ADT Orgovyx stops the re-occurance of any microscopic cancer outside the prostate. 18 months is the best, and recommended amount of months to use for prevention of microscopic high risk spread. ❤

I think we all react to Orgovyx, or any ADT, slightly differently. I have been on Orgovyx for a month. I am supposed to do three more months with 40 sessions IGRT. I am 4+3, localized, psa 6.7 at start, 3 out of 10 samples cancer (60%, 40%, 30%). My biggest problems with Orgovyx are that it makes my pre-existing constipation much worse, and it seems to give me very strong stomach pains and cramps. I have pre-existing chronic gastritis so stomach is very sensitive. May have to stop the Orgovyx. I am 72.5 yo. Other Orgovyx symptoms I have are muscle/joint pain, RLS at night, fatigue, headache. No hot flashes so far!

Hi. Could you please inform if Relugolix is now good to take for Favorable & Unfavorable Intermediate group with PSA 5.5 and Gleason score 3+4 and or 4+3 ? How long should RELUGOLIX be taken for such a patient who has undergone Radiation Therapy using MRLinac machine? Thanks

Thank you for the information. This will be an other alternative to Lupron if other issues arise. Will be address with his oncologist next week. 👍😊

No. Zero evidence of such thing

Orgovyx sounds like a possible substitute for Lupron in my case I do have metastatic prostate cancer so maybe my insurance will cover it.

So my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer and mets to the bones. They started him on Xtandi and orgovyx. His psa was 94 then 200 in one week spike before he started the meds. My question is why no surgery or chemo or radiation?
@teresa97604 ай бұрын
We just asked our Urologist and oncologist that question today. Any PSA over 20 is considered to be already outside the prostate. Even if the PSMA pet scan shows no cancer outside the prostate with a 200 PSA he has advances or stage 4 cancer. A PSA that jumped THAT HIGH (Over 10 poin ts in one month) is considered high risk. They either know from your Dad's PSMA Pet Scan, or suspect that he IS ALREADY MATASTISIZEF OUTSIDE HIS PROSTATE. Insurance wont allow coverage for radiation after that. Chemo is most likely the next step.

My therapy includes 12 months of ADT. Have been taking Orgovyx but insurance company will not approve. I used for 2 months on trial program, 4 months on bridge program and then a couple months while battling with insurance company. Final denial received! Dr wants to do last 2-3 months on Firmagon. I am gleason grade 9 no mets. Should I be concerned about switching last two months of ADT from Orgovyx to Firmagon? Slower testosterone recovery?
@teresa97604 ай бұрын
Odyssey We were told the same. Fimagon (injection form) is the same medicine as orgovyx (pill form). On medicare ibsurance, firmagon is paid under the Part of in-patient Done in hospital. I think its naturally covered as in-patient coverage. Its not covered under part D Perscriptions out-patient. We were told the medicines ARE BOTH THE SAME MED. Just diff form. Even if one is less effective, we were told the strongest punch is in the beginning. We were told same thing.

I have placed 2 separate emails on 01/08/2021 Nd 01/12 2021 to PCRI, and have not received any response at all. Why bother soliciting questions from subscribers if your not interested?

Not sure if "Barry Dee" is the name that would be on the email, but I do not see any emails from that name or any emails from that day that have not been responded to. You can fill out the form on this page and submit it directly to us or use the phone number to reach us during business hours (Pacific Time): pcri.org/helpline

What really distresses me is that even with Medicare Plan D, my copay is still over $800 per a 30 day supply. I live on Medicare at $1,500.00 per month. Out of that is my food, utilities (phone, electric, natural gas, groceries, etc.) My question: How can I copay this horrendous amount for this "miraculous" pill and not be forced to live in a cardboard box under bridge!

Ask your provider to contact the manufactures to give you the meds free of cost based on proof of low income status.
@teresa97604 ай бұрын
@albertpeckham8708 Albert our medicare did same to us. Our Urologist calked and got us a GRANT FOR $8,000. THAT covered our $900 and pays until the $8,000 is used. Have your doc who perscribed it, get you a grant. Also have them call the manufacturer. They can give you a direct discount. ❤❤❤ good luck

@@benlllkenn7348 Yes right away. Have your Perscribing Doc organize it. Ours did. They owe it to you. ASAP
