Hey! Great review! Are there any frame rate or resolution issues? I played the Will of the Wisps on XB1S and it played terrible after the encounter with Fang and is simply unplayable at the 3 hour mark. Does this suffer from the same issues? I am really looking forward to finally getting to truly play this game!

I saw the collector’s edition containing *both* games, soundtrack, a couple of booklets and more! It is the best game I have ever played. The gameplay, the story, the visuals and the soundtrack (my god the soundtrack) are absolutely flawless. Can't name a single thing wrong with it- easy 10/10 perfection

Fun fact: Milton Guasti AKA DoctorM64 worked on the level design of Ori and the Will of the Wisps. He was previously the man behind AM2R, a Metroid 2 remake that he stopped developing due to a DMCA takedown from Nintendo. And now his work has ended up on an official release on a Nintendo console.

i went with pc. 4k 60 with stunning HDR O_O omg omg. the first ori was perfect. and somehow they made this one perfecterererer. i strongly suspect that somebody sold their soul to the devil to craft yet another masterpiece - and i don't even mind! 12/10 from me. definitely my game of the year

Man, it goes without saying how incredible this game is. So many good parts. What really sticks out to me though is the side quests. Specifically, the series of fetch quests you can undertake, doing things like bringing someone some string or a hat. I've never had a series of fetch quests make me so happy or feel o engaging. I think part of the reason was how you got to see the results of you fetching. Once you retrieve a hat for a character, you get to SEE him wearing said hat. Just amazing, how they made you care so much about the little parts too. Personal10/10 for me, because I usually hate fetch quests but I loved it here

As someone playing through both games at the same time, Their differences stand out more than their similarities - Ori is an incredible platformer, that sells the appeal of a power fantasy but not one void of challenge and frustration - while hollow knight leans more to brutal dark soul-ish game design, that doesn't excel well at platforming but "nails" it's themes and atmosphere phenomenally. I genuinely love both games, but Ori and the WW deserve a nomination for GOTY 2020 - the game just took everything from its predecessor and fixed 99% of its flaws and solidifies what makes it work so well. Also, Music and Visuals are god-like. Moon Studios are literal magicians, with this 60FPs switch port and graphics and audio that could be used for a myriad of things outside gaming.

In a reddit AMA with the developers, they said some concepts that are similar to HK's actually have been developed before HK came out, and are more inspired by Final Fantasy. I haven't played FF so I can't tell if they meant the shards system or something else. They could have been inspired by HK, who doesn't after that breakthrough, but some brilliants do think alike, I guess.

Not gonna watch the video because I don't want any of the game spoiled for me so I'm glad you're conclusion is in the first sentence :) Blind Forest was the first game where I had KZbin next to me for the last quarter of the game because I just HAD to finish it, such a beautifully crafted game. Even the intro had me almost in tears. Glad to hear this next one will even top that experience.

I played this before the first one, and prefer it. I personally think three things set it apart- the autosaving, the combat, and the boss fights. It’s like how Celeste, despite its difficulty, invites players to keep playing through generous auto saves and respawn points. You’re almost never burdened with any lost progress so you spend a much higher percentage of your play time actually playing the game instead of replaying sections

I had just finished Ori and the blind forest, raving for the sequel two weeks ago only to be hit with articles saying “developers say ori and will of the wisp will be an extremely hard port(hinting at no port).” And here we are now! I am so excited to get this game, the first game took a while to get into, but once I was hooked I was hooked. As soon as there is a sale on this I’ll definitely buy it, but for now $30 is quite a bit for my cheapo self.

I rarely buy a game at more than half of its standard price, and almost never pay over 10 euro for a digital game. Now if they make a double pack of these two, physically, that isn't 150 euro, I'd consider it even at the sum of both games their standard prices though.

Kenny Carter I'm up for that too in very rare occasions though. I got almost 250 games on the switch now (not including free games). I got BotW, luigis mansion and now I just preordered the new hyrule Warriors game a few days ago in full price. That's 3 out of 250 paid games. The only downside is that sometimes I need to w8 for too long for a game that I want to go on sale. But there are so many other games on sale every day that the gap is always filled.

I was extremely surprised to see that moon manage to not only port this game to the switch but do so with not a lot of compromise outside of downscale in resolution. With that being said, I can not recommend this game enough. Its one of the best games of 2020 (my personal favorite so far) and it such a great continuation of Blind Forest. I'd play this on Xbox one x and I'm tempted to purchase it for switch because I love this game (probably not but I do love this team and their work).

The two physical version will be coming to Nintendo later this year, apart from 3rd party company Iam8bit bundle collection. These versions is lot cheaper and market for customers don’t want to spend so much money. Good on you Nintendo for looking after us!

I want this game but I'm worried that I genuinely won't know what to do - what direction to go into, what to pick up, what creature will cause you damage, etc. I tend to only play games that are super clear in telling you exactly what to do and how to do it, but the few times I've played games like this I've been lost and watching LPs to figure it out kind of defeats the purpose of a game so heavily driven by a story.

I'm glad they put this on the switch. I'm an xbox guy, and this is the best game I've ever played. And ive played a lot of games. The ori games are so amazing, I'm glad they managed to also bring the second one to more people. This game played at 4k HDR at 60 fps on a 65 inch TV is just, amazing. It will be 4k 120 fps on the series x. Yet another reason to play through it again. So excited.

Great review, I’d say maybe a bit spoilery with some of the visuals, but I’ve played it before so maybe someone who hasn’t will just forget them a second later. The game’s amazing, one of my favourite games, I’m really looking forward to that collector’s edition with both games included, it looks awesome. Also for anyone who’s wondering, there will be standard edition versions of the physical game for this and the Blind forest on switch by the end of the year, at least according to a tweet I saw by iam8bit.

Already bought it on PC months ago, tempted to buy it again on Switch at its exhorbitant price just to support the devs because it is that good of a game. Having the portable option doesn't hurt either, but I probably won't even play it on the Switch.

This is my GOTY for 2020 and it's great that it made it's way to the Switch with such a quality port, but the art style is very subdued by the lower resolution and other downgrades made to get it running on the hardware, so I would highly recommend getting this on PC or Xbox One X if you have access to either of those platforms. Seeing this game at 1440p or higher with HDR is something to behold and really highlights the amazing art style to a level that you won't believe unless you see it with your own eyes on a good 4K TV or monitor!

Easily GOTY for me. Got it on PC already and didn't even hesitate to buy it on switch the moment they announced it. The only thing I hate is it's a bit short, I guess that's how good it is. It leaves you wanting more. Hats off to moon studios. I hope an Ori 3 is still in the cards,

Game crashed on me about 10 times from game start to credits. And I'm starting to see how they managed to get Ori running on Switch. Not only is there reduced quality in effects and textures, but the game doesn't load in much of the area you don't see, I noticed if I tried going too fast, the camera wouldn't follow, and the game would just stop and freeze, and then suddenly pop in. Definitely not the best version for speed running

I agree! It is a masterpiece!!! I love the every second of it. I looked at this after I just played it. It is a definitely buy. I just bought it cause I loved the first game. But this one is even better. I am amazed at how good it is. I agree on most of what you've said. I gott 3 crashes totally. The story is so good😭👌. No spoilers though. I would give this a 9,4/10. Only a few things keeping it down. Like the respawns even though I like it cause you'll keep being alert. And then the few crashes. I played it in 15 hours. I loved every second of it. I haven't finished everything though. I am at 52% apparently and I am also looking at every noock and cranny I can find and reach. The battering was much more fun then the first game. More depth in in it. And it made it much more fun. Aslo It was a difficult game for my standards. But a good refreshing one. I like that they did what they did. I hope you try this game you won't regret it! 😃👍

definitely thinking about grabbing this now that they have the physical collection with both games. hollow knight is one of my favorite games ever so i'm fairly certain i'll like these games. i love the visual style for these modern 2d platformers.

I picked Hades instead of this one , but I'm sure I will play both Ori games in the future . Hades is super addictive btw , it didn't seem so at the start , but I'm having a blast after the first few runs.
