Ori Any% Unrestricted Tutorial

This is a brief tutorial on how to complete a run in the Any% Unrestricted category for Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

Posting this comment for anyone else that happens to stumble into this video while trying to get the challenging achievements. As Arseny Genadev mentioned below, this *does not work for the achievements.* You won't get any of the achievements for beating the game like this, even the regular achevement for game completion afaik. Still pretty cool to manage to pull this off though, definetely give it a try. As for the reason as to why this doesn't give the achievements (if anyone cares about that), here's my theory: The whole wrong warp happens during a memory sequence. After the credits end, the game puts you back near the vine where the glitch starts. Because of that, you probably don't go through some sort of flag that the game sets in order to recognize that you reached the ending of the game (In fact, that flag might be dealing the final bit of damage to Shriek on the actual boss fight). Thus, as far as the game's concerned, you didn't actually finish the game, you just went on a sight seeing trip inside the memory. This was still a very well explained video when it comes to the execution of the route and the glitch. I managed to pull it off on my first try, though I missed the Shriek loading zone. Third try and I managed to get in there.

When I am at the overlap area out of bounds I line it up to where you are at but I always just keep falling and don't enter another screen. I fall until I enter another piece of the map and am stuck from there. Do you press anything else or should it just load you up by itself?

I think you may just need to ensure that you are far enough, try going a bit farther than I am in order to ensure you get into the right area! Hope that helps, if not I think there may be some people more familiar with that issue in the discord and they would be happy to answer! :D

@@bigdeutsch5588 After the Gumo part I either can't get to another screen or I just don't have the falling animation and land in a random spot of the map with just a torch lol .It's fun but im trying to get it right

hi. first of all, thank you for the video. i'm only trying to do this to do the cheesy challenges like complete the game without shards/money/your left hand/while sitting on a pile of burning coal/and other stupid stuff. do i understand it correctly that the splits you are talking about(including the starting and ending split) are only for speedruns and i can do it without them? also you are saying that i need to be on patch 1.3(if i heard correctly). i'm currently on patch 3.1. does it mean that i need to go back to 1.3?

Hi, Yeah the splits are only for if you want to compare your time against others and/or submit your run to speedrun.com. As for the patch, it should work fine if you are on the most current patch

i did everything right but i cant get that corner stuff at the end of falling to get the ending

Hi i know this is an old video but i find this the most usefull one! I have a problem at the "falling" part of the run, i dont seem to get it, even if i fall for 3 min or 5 min i never get the orange line you have at 7:00, or when the background changes into mountains and such.

I'm not sure exactly but you may have to make sure you're timing the unpause correctly. That might be part of the problem. It's been a while so I'm not sure

@@mr.wormy2012 im trying it now, but i dont get any background when i enter the out of bounds, its all grey and i cant line up or use visual cues of anything, i tried just going for a while to see but nope nothing. am i doing something wrong (Solved) fiddled with graphics now im getting visual cues, might have just been resolution or graphics quality

What dors tab out and tab back in mean?

On a windows PC, you can use ALT+TAB to cycle through different windows you have open, and you can use this function to force the game to pause the way it does here, and then tab back in. I can't remember why it's required as i haven't ran this category in a couple years but it should be required

Hi as far as I know there are only 3 versions of the game. Patch 1, 2, and 3. I believe it only works on patch 3? Might want to check the speedrun discord which should be listed in the description

i think i dont understand it corecktly when u see the visual qeu u need to tap back in and i dont know what u meant by that im kinda stuck now becus it plays a cutscene when i enter the file

So this works on PC, and in order to do this, you need to Tab out (tab to a different window outside of the game) which will cause the game to show the Game Paused Press left click to resume. Once that happens you tab back into the game, and it will be playing a cutscene over audio, and when that cutscene reaches the point as described in the video then you want to do a left torch swing to get back in. Hope this helps!
