Take extra care when using diskpart. It is no guarantee that the disk numbers are not necessarily the same in the GUI and diskpart, so remember to compare capacities and free space for each. This is especially true if you compare drive letters in Windows Explorer with disk numbers in diskpart. It's practically guaranteed that those are not the same. You will, however, see the assigned disk letters in diskpart. Use "list volume" to see how many volumes there are in the selected disk. That will also show assigned drive letters.

Hmm. Using drive letter A: and B: should probably not be an issue under modern Windows versions, even for hard drives, but those two are traditionally used for diskette drives.
