You have the force of at least 4x 5 watt fans in there. With them blowing down, it slightly increases the internal pressure. Because heat rises, as you pointed out. This helps prevent ingress of dust and foreign materials in through other spots on the enclosure. They are finally acknowledging that dust build up is the main source of death of a fully working system. Parts overheat and can't dispel their heat as intended.

I don't know how to tell the difference, but I was researching pfc trying to understand some of the settings/readings on this inverter.

Look more like a server that you mount horizontally in a rack. Pull air from the front and expel in the back. but that one is reverse since the power switch is in the heat exit.
@HBPowerwall Жыл бұрын
ooh that'd be a cool idea, especially if you had rack mounted batteries.. small remote screen and you'd be good!

It looks like they have fuses in series with the MOVs inside the heat shrink., which means the surge protection would not work after the fuse had blown and you would not know it was no longer working.

I sure miss your 18650 builds. Maybe do a small one with 2023 tech? Been searching around for a solid AC powered spot welder and the good balancing BMS for use in a 24 volt pack. I’m not up to date. If possible at least some reviews of those products.

Hi there been scrolling through all you videos to see if you have heard or tried Highstar cells, was hoping someone new a little about Highstar , seems to be one of the largest cell makers in China.

Great to see Orient Power batteries available for purchase in Australia! This unit looks to be the same as the MPP Solar MPI Hybrid 5.5K (considering it connects to the same Solarpower software it is most definitely a rebadge). Here's a secret that might help you try this factory password ;) zAxe12_ObB8ya I actually had a bug that was never resolved with the MPP unit I used and it will be interesting if your unit has the same behaviour. Using grid tie with backup (ii) mode I had this wired into the grid for solar export + had a battery connected. During the day it would work perfectly charging the battery with solar at my set amperage, using leftover energy to run the house + exporting the rest to the grid. However when the sun set it would never automatically change to running the house off the battery so at night I was still drawing from the grid! Unfortunately I also experienced the high idle power consumption but for the price there isn't really another all in one solution :(

wow some great info there, i'll try that password when I get it installed for sure!!! Bang for buck these style of inverters I think they go really really well..

I have a different brand of these, the 5kW version that supports 900V input, Dual mppt controller hybrid. sadly it can't officially be grid connected due to paperwork as the manufacturer company didn't want to pay for it to be on the list for 2023 :'( even though it's allowed up until then :/ Sigh
@HBPowerwall Жыл бұрын
This one can't be legally connected even though they allude to it in the marketing & software. Still a bloody good inverter and many I've talked to just don't care and install anyway - I won't be one of those!!! That said it's almost installed 100% off grid with a few little cool toys.

Because wires and battery produce heat and normally are under inverter , is better in from top and blow down. Yes Indeed hot raises.

I really want to know why they draw so much power at idle. I'd like to put a clamp meter around different components and narrow it down to see what exactly is drawing the power. I'm suspicious its the cheap inverter boards. Its a real shame. As 1.7kwh a day is a lot for someone like me who lives in the UK, in the dead of winter, itll draw more power than the solar would produce.
@HBPowerwall Жыл бұрын
It's just the price bracket I guess, My PIP inverters are the same ish power draw, in winter here you can see the batteries not charging as much, here it's a few extra panels needed to cover the self consumption. Would be good to do some real math and work out losses across the load range.

Austria, you have gotten the austrian version with VDE whatever, the german norm of the club german engineers. Austria, not Australia might be a funny explanation, but I have seen that UI before, the symbols in the panel an what not.

@HBPowerwall Жыл бұрын
They all buy from Voltronic Power voltronicpower.com/en-US/Product/PV-Inverter/On-Grid-with-Energy-Storage-Inverter and rebrand - difference between all the companies is how they deal with the warranty. YEARS ago GiantPower had their inverters on the approved inverter list for about 2 years, but that really added to the price of the grid connected ones.
