I admire any Westerner who doesn't mind being seen as an alien!👏👏 Whether by children or adults. I've lived in Japan since 2003, and I'm immensely bothered by this, because in Brazil I would never view anyone as an alien. I find it very embarrassing! Even worse is when you speak the local language fluently, and they insist to speaking in English just to take advantage of the opportunity to exercise the little English they know. Things get worse, because in the minds of Asians, every Caucasian is a native English speaker, and consequently has an obligation to understand English. In my case, I get very upset about this, as I am Causasian, and my native language is Portuguese. Sometimes I think that it didn't mean anything to me to study the Japanese language, because just because I'm Caucasian, they insist on speaking English to me. I think about how one of them would feel if they were in the USA, for example, and someone came to speak in Chinese Mandarin. It's embarrassing when people ask me if I'm American, and I say I'm Brazilian. Not that I'm ashamed of being Brazilian. Quite the opposite! But some Japanese people are clearly disappointed when I say I'm Brazilian and not American. I don't understand how a people who suffered the effects of two atomic bombs can be so sycophantic when their tormentors launched those two bombs. It's a level zero of self-love, I think. Furthermore, I believe that some Japanese parents tell their young children that all Brazilians, Latin Americans or anyone from developing countries are dishonest, criminals and violent. I have already seen the contempt shown by some children towards foreigners from the third world. We know that children are like a blank book. They have no evil, and they don't know what prejudice is. Unless some ignorant adult teaches them to behave in this regrettable way.

One day he noticed there were a few kittens hanging around their shelves Seeing we were longing for a calico and they had one, he approached the mother, father and little boy and asked if he could buy one. He came home that night and we agreed to taking their calico kitten. So he went the next day after work and they had everything ready, from kitten food, a box and some kitten toys. As my husband was leaving with new kitten in tow their little boy comes up to my husband and said; Don't forget Mister, she only speaks Chinese." Dear foreign friends, I am Chinese and I look forward to you not being blinded by the lies and information described by the West. You should go to China with your own eyes to understand the true historical facts, go to the Chinese library and among the Chinese people to take a look, ask the Chinese people, instead of blindly accepting deliberate lies fabricated by some people to slander China and Mao Zedong in the media of countries that do not understand China, especially in anti China news media. First of all, I would like to remind you that a large number of anti China, anti Mao Zedong, and anti Communist people, along with their ancestors, are bad people. They are all warlords, landlords, and evil gentry groups that were driven to Taiwan by the Chinese people. They enslaved and oppressed the Chinese people in China, and were defeated by the Chinese people. Mao Zedong led Chinese farmers and workers to resist the enslavement and oppression of the warlord government of the Republic of China, and ultimately defeated the warlord group led by Chiang Kai shek, and established the People's Republic of China in 1949. Remember, the republic is a republic. Foreign friends, if you are interested in China, you must go to China to get to know it for yourself. Don't believe the western media. I can tell you directly that about 90% of the news you see on KZbin, Facebook and Twitter about the CPC and Mao Zedong are anti China and anti Communist Chinese who immigrated from Taiwan in the early days. They were fabricated by the followers of Chiang Kai shek in the Republic of China because they hate Mao Zedong for leading the Chinese people to defeat them. We look forward to your buying a bilingual edition of Selected Works of Mao Zedong on Taobao. This book, which has been called the "people's bible" by the Chinese people, contains the speeches made by Mao Zedong in the national newspapers during the period from 1926 to 1949 when he led the Chinese people to wage the People's Democratic War against the warlord government of the Republic of China oppressing the Chinese people. The contents of the book, including the contents of the civil war between the CPC and the Government of the Republic of China, can clearly understand the real people's leader Mao Zedong and the history of the CPC from its establishment to today as the world's largest party. You know, China has always been suppressed and smeared by the West led by the United States. The trade war, technology war, etc. initiated by the United States against China are all part of the anti China movement. It is difficult for you to hear and see the correct historical facts about China and Mao Zedong in the media under the discourse hegemony controlled by the West. Mao Zedong holds the highest position in the hearts of the Chinese people. He is deeply loved and supported by the Chinese people because he saved them. However, on the contrary, Mao Zedong was also deeply hated by the warlords, landlords, and evil gentry of the Republic of China. During the government era led by Chiang Kai shek, about 95% of the Chinese people were slaves under the rule of Chiang Kai shek's warlord government. For generations, the Chinese people were enslaved and oppressed by government organizations composed of warlords, bureaucrats, landlords, and some gangsters. The Chinese people were enslaved and oppressed by these warlords and landlords, and their food and clothing were not covered. They were slaves for generations, begging and selling children and women along the streets, being driven to work by landlords, and having no land of their own. All the land was occupied by warlords and landlords under the rule of the government of the Republic of China. If you have been to India, Pakistan, or Afghanistan, Laos, you will see children begging on the streets, and in the era of the Republic of China, about 95% of Chinese people were like this. At the same time, there was also Japan's invasion and massacre of China. In such a criminal era, it was Mao Zedong who led the CPC, led poor workers and farmers, and led students and teachers to form a people's democratic revolutionary struggle against the oppression of the warlord government of the Republic of China. In the end, the warlord government of the Republic of China was defeated. The number of these warlord landlords in China was about 8 million, and a large part of them fled to Taiwan. Then, they immigrated from Taiwan to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and other countries, with many Chinese. The earliest Chinese immigrants to countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom were mostly from Taiwan, and their ancestors were warlord landlords and their descendants. These people fabricated false history and lies in Western media, smearing and slandering China. This is the earliest Chinese, and also the terrifying voices about China that your ancestors or you often hear in Western media, mostly from these people. I look forward to you all maintaining a questioning attitude. If possible, please come to China to personally investigate and research, and do not believe any lies fabricated by the media. This is not history at all. Mao Zedong established the People's Republic of China, and the Chinese people were no longer slaves, but became masters of the country. Mao Zedong did not enslave and oppress the Chinese people like the government of the Republic of China did, but instead allowed the Chinese people to go to school for free, receive medical treatment for free, and have housing for free. The people will no longer be displaced, the Chinese people will no longer be unable to afford medical care, and the Chinese people will no longer lose the right to access knowledge because they do not have the money to go to school. All of them will receive free education. Mao Zedong did everything for the Chinese people. Excuse me, Biden, can we provide free housing for the American people? Or use houses to turn people into mortgage slaves? Why do Chinese people love Mao Zedong so much? Because Mao Zedong loved the people more than his biological parents. During Mao Zedong's era, the people's government built houses and distributed them to the people for free, free of charge. People's education, free of charge, and free of charge, are all borne by the state. Everything is for the people. If such a people's leader is smeared and slandered by bad people, as a Chinese, even a foreigner, if your president loves you and your people so much, builds a house, gives it to you for free, reduces the burden of people's lives, provides free education, and does not charge any money... Would you not love it? Natural love. However, such a true people's leader, the People's Republic of China, which is now China, once appeared, and his name was Mao Zedong. However, it is no longer the case now. China has returned to the path of capitalism, and these welfare arrests have been stolen by capitalists. The Chinese people have become slaves to housing and high interest loans again...., I look forward to foreign friends who can learn about a human leader Mao Zedong with their hearts. Thank you all

But China offers sushi and also gourmet food from every other part of the world Chinese and Japanese are both polite and you will have a great time in Japan. But if you can, visit China someday. I lived in China (a few hours from Wuhan by train) from 2000 to 2006. Being stopped by strangers wanting to practice their English or being invited for meals out or to homes was completely normal. When I first moved there I always found it a little unusual for the first few months when I went shopping. I used to pass a group of fruit and veg sellers who would have a habit of taking my shopping bags from me, looking inside and then interrogate me on how much I had paid. Later on during my time there I would learn to haggle / barter for everything. But yeah, just a few basic words and phrases always went a long way
@luogreg41506 ай бұрын

Bargaining at Chinese vegetable markets is a tradition, a habit of the older generation. Therefore, if you don’t bargain, you will end up paying a higher price for goods. I went to China back in 2019, just over a month before the pandemic started. I have 2 ft of dark curly hair and an olive skin tone, so I'm used to getting stared at whenever I travel. Got plenty of them in China, and the best one happened in Tai'an. I went out for some chow mein one evening, and the couple sitting at the table next to me actually stopped and watched me eat. I just gave them a smile and nod, and ignored them. Good times. It also happened one time when I was working in San Francisco as a bank teller a couple of decades ago. I did a transaction for a Chinese client, and she took a picture of me before walking away. Everyone got a laugh out of that one.

I visited China but it was about 10 years ago. Beijing twice with one visit I added Xian. And one visit to Hong Kong. I only could speak a handful of simple Chinese words. At that time I was a member of a travel website. I contacted a few local people in each city. They would meet me at my hotel and take me to lunch or dinner. During some of the days I went on tours with either a small group or private guide. The majority of the locals I encountered were very nice and helpful to me. The food is so good. That is a part of the trip that spoiled me. After eating the food in China. I can no longer eat the American Style Chinese food in the take out restaurants in my area of the states.

Let me tell what I have encountered in US during my 6 months stayed even though I can speak reasonable English. A non-Chinese here from Southeast Asia country. I really admired American and westerners. They are so lucky that they can come to Asia countries and still they are so welcomed to work, travel and live especially China without facing any racism, discrimination or Asian tell them to go back to your country or go back to America. Yet most are treated by well by Asians or Chinese in China. In China and other Asia countries they can travel to any corner without have to fear of any danger. Decades ago, I went US in California living at La Habra the City of Brea Harbor Blvd. It is my America dream since my teenage days to go to US and hope to be accepted as citizen. But unfortunately, it doesn't work out for me and my America dream ended up a nightmare. I really can't remember how many times I was told by the locals especially the whites telling me "Hay! Asian, go back to your Asia" Many racist names calling on me. And I was chased by a gang wanted to beat me up. After 6 months there, I have decided to pack and come back to Asia and never look back again. Not even I am paid to go to a country that people are so racist. And I have from friends saying it is now worst than before after Trump was voted as President.

@@panyaboonc5621- That sounds odd to me. I’m a white American who grew up in the Northeast near New York City. I don’t know a single white person here who treats Asians like that and I’m 55 years old. I went to school with children from Japan, China, Korea, and the Philippines. I am still connected with a school friend whose family moved back to Japan when their father transferred back to Sony’a main office. It sounds like you moved to a very bad town in California. It was not worse here under president Trump. However, living under President Biden is very bad now. There’s more crime here with higher robberies and murders against all races.

@@TAL142 - I’m sorry to hear that was your experience here. I have had talks with my Asian friends (who still live here) asking them about that narrative. Not one of them was ever threatened or told to go back where they came from. Even during Covid, nobody ran up to them and blamed them for the pandemic. Not saying it never happens, but it hasn’t ever happened to any of my friends, because I’ve asked them about their experiences. You probably would’ve been better off in a friendlier city. @@finster1968 I am in California. All I am saying it is more common than you think. My neighbor is ABC. He is as American as you can imagined. He was even a little biased against immigrant Chinese complaining about too many Chinese moving in. But later he complained to me he was told to go home on his trip at the airport. Sometimes Asians just don’t complain as much about these stuffs and rather just get along with everyone. You are called Karen if you say these stuffs to blacks but usually not much is done or even reported against other races. All I am saying it still exist with the way government intentionally demonizing certain group of people. This is just like taking down confederated stuffs. Those are history. Our family was in Japan 4 years ago and we went to the Peace Park in Hiroshima. While there, a school group was presenting 1000 origami cranes and to pray for peace. Afterwards, a small group of the students came up with a teacher and practiced their English with us, mostly asking where we had come from, how old our children were, and where in Japan we had been. The boy who asked the most questions was a bit overwhelmed, kept stumbling on his words as he tried to remember his English but it was passable.

I went to Beijing in the 90's. The few western tourists back then all stayed pretty much within the designated tourist areas, and rarely strayed far from their tour guides. Taxis were so cheap that they just used those to go to and from the hotel, while I decided to go straight for the public transport and off the beaten track. That didn't work as well in China as most other places, but sure made for an interesting trip. I never encountered a single other westerner in the subway system, and kids hid behind their moms when they saw me. I also seemed to be the only westerner at the Beijing zoo, as that was apparently not considered a normal tourist attraction. Everyone was staring at me more than the tigers and pandas. Even at the Great Wall, where there were at least a few groups of other foreigners, the locals still still seemed to take more pictures of me than the wall itself. Several parents had me pose with their children. None were too impressed with my crappy Chinese, but didn't mind chatting away regardless. Despite me feeling extremely alien, at least the Chinese were generally very warm and welcoming (unlike the Japanese, who are polite, but quite obviously just want to to leave them alone). Unfortunately it often ended with them asking for money, but considering how very poor many of them were, you can't really blame them. I am glad to see how much better they seem to be doing financially, but very surprised that there still aren't that many foreigners around. I just assumed most major cities in China would have their fair share of them by now.

I am from China, and I also met friends from abroad when I was a child, so I have a deep understanding of it. Our gaze came from curiosity, at that time there were not many foreigners traveling to China due to visa reasons, and almost all our knowledge of the world came from books. Chinese children are naturally introverted and shy. They are eager to communicate. However, even children who have studied English for many years find it difficult to speak English when they actually meet foreigners. It is not because they are unwilling, but cause they are afraid of making a fool of themselves. They are pure and kind at heart, and they are not sure how to understand different cultures. So they think a smile or a hello may be the best way.

okay, I have learned very little over my 71 years because everyone around me kept telling me to speak English. I have learned to count in many languages and have learned a few words in each. I say the Greek alphabet and the Russian alphabets daily and I write very pretty in Russian. I tried to learn Chinese and Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese too, but I always ran across people who either don't speak the dialect I was trying to learn or they just were rude. I envy how you speak but you actually live there. That helps. I loved learning Thai especially and then Japanese. Chinese was getting me aggravated because I had no one to speak with. It would be so great if I could go to a Chinese restaurant only speaking Chinese and be completely understood. Every time I try it fails because they don't ever speak the same dialect, again.

From what I see in this video, obviously this tell me how safe China is. Young kids have lot of freedom wandering after school, going to school on their own without their parents or adults accompanied them to and back from school. In the west, young kids at this age normally accompanied by their parents and adults to go to school and back. Or school bus will send everyday. It won't be safe for kids to go to school and back home like this in China. This is real freedom.
