I think Batman as a character works better outside of the dc universe. His best stuff has always been street level

I agree. That's why I mainly like to read the Black Label stuff. I like it best when Batman is stopping serial killer clowns and gangbangers and not saving the universe from evil aliens and stuff.

Mattson Tomlin really put himself up there in goat status with this one. The nuance that he placed in Bruce is fantastic, as was the look into his psychological profile. I enjoy the stories where we see how damaged Bruce is as a person. It helps the character resonate more.

Love this story!!! The ending with Bruce seemingly trying to help prevent villain's mental health decline is so satisfying... I mean I know that's what Arkham is supposed do be for but this time it felt like he personally saw the benefit from therapy and did the right thing rather than let him become a problem for others down the line.

it really is refreshing seeing a different side of the Bat and Bruce that we dont get to see as often. Batman: The Imposter was the finest comic I'd read in a long time. A really fresh take on the Batman mythos that illustrates yet again that he is the most malleable comic book character. This was the first time reading a Batman comic where I actually really disliked Batman's character, but I respected the comic so much for making it that way. His psyche is more realistic and believable than a lot of the other versions. Really hoping they do sequels for this! :D

This was such a bizarre story. It literally fits the universe of Matt Reeves' Batman. Not bizarre in a bad way, but it leaves soo much room open for completely new retellings of Batman's villain lineup. I can imagine more people finding out it's Bruce, but just like in other stories, they would essentially swear to never tell, and in ways form a cognitive dissonance between Bat and Bruce, just to function. Imagine all the characters we know well, end up seeing Leslie and they organize an intervention to *be* the help, leading to a new origin of the Bat family, as a way of Bruce defying conventional help, and trying to prove to his interveners that he can still have a semblance of a family, and be Batman.

I can't believe you aren't getting a bigger response for this series. More people should have followed and been entranced by this story. To sit there and think people just bypassed it and then to realize how good this story was, it's just truly sad and makes me wonder, do you really like Batman?
@joedelao20902 жыл бұрын
Based on what you say, all stories have been done. All music has been made. Everything's been done before. That's the artists job to breathe life and make something that is a new interpretation, so the audience is entertained. You could just say that this is another noir Batman. This is just another Batman detective story.. But this is one that shows him a little bit different light than he normally is. It does so in a different universe, allowing him to experience things without the usual people there to help him through his tough experiences. He doesn't have the safety net of Alfred or Commissioner Gordon to be more of his rock for him when he goes through hard times. He's on his own. A young man on his own wandering around on this crusade that he's not even sure he understands. Where Batman always understood what he was doing it. This is different in a lot of sub levels, where things are more murky and you have to look at to really see. The emotions of Batman that normally are thoughts occasionally mentioned, become clearer. The torment his choices cause him, more apparent. Then the crystallization of those ideals in the end.That's what makes it so brilliant.

Is this going to be an ongoing series? Because they set it up to where Thompkins is in a very dangerous situation helping people we know have the potential to do harm. I imagine someone he sends to her is going to injure or kill her and it will lead to Batman taking a harder stance but still thinking that the villains need mental help. Somewhere like Arkham Asylum where the villains can be locked away for reasons bypassing the due process of the courts. This could develop into the best reason for Arkham’s prominence.

Well talk about one hell of a story all in all this actually could make for a good BATTISON sequel. The best aspect of any batman stories or incarnation is how they deal with his humanity, his compasión and his psyche. Is he insane or he isn't, does Gotham really become better through batman's influence and especially how much corruption and crime can poison a city to the point it result in the birth of batman or batman esque entity to actually make a difference for the better. That said this is a true work of art

I do prefer when publishers put out limited/one-shot books. Things like Fantastic Four Books of Doom and X-men Magneto Testament, along with books like All Star Superman have been far more enjoyable. At least they have a better track record of being enjoyable than their on-going counterparts: things are just allowed to breathe and make more sense. In an on-going of cause the bad guy escapes [again], they want to sell more books and it becomes silly, just as an example.

Whenever they make alternate Batmen, they don't charge the criminals too so I want a Mafia Don Joker, or a Defective Joker who also solves crimes but after hes clocked out maybe finds and kills or uses criminals with no trace being left and only Bruce finds out causing them to start their cat and mouse game. IDK I got excited my bad peace. I also thought What if Alfred was Jokers real father and how would that work out?
