Because carol is just an over all uninteresting character, and pushed by people who have no idea how to write a great character. Monica is just a better character and should’ve been pushed to the front and not just as a sidekick to carol. I honestly believe a Monica Rambeau Captain Marvel movie would be far more interesting and make more money than carol ever will. It’s a shame what they’re doing with her now🤷🏾‍♂️

And that would've been the one that's ripped apart. Unfortunately we saw Halle Berry's Catwoman and how she won a Razzie for that. Hence why Storm never got a solo movie despite being popular female superhero. Female superhero movies aren't written well. Monica Rambeau I.P needed to be protected and hide behind a disposable mainstream character like Carole Danvers since they already have Black Widow, Wasp, Wonder Woman, Supergirl etc.

If Marvel wanted to retain the rights to the name Captain Marvel to prevent DC from taking it back, they should've just had Carol Danvers become Captain Marvel after Mar-Vell died of cancer instead of doing that whole "Binary" nonsense, with Rogue stealing Carol's powers and memories and Carol's body being taken by the Shi'ar. Monica would never have had to go through all of these name changes.

Correction: The very first Captain Marvel was the one from Shazam! comics back in the 1940s, published by Fawcett Comics and later acquired by DC Comics. The second Captain Marvel was Mar-Vell from Captain Marvel comics in the 1960s, with Carol Danvers as Ms. Marvel in the 1970s. Monica Rambeau is actually the THIRD character to have the name "Captain Marvel."

Captain Marvel is Billy Batson Shazam's name, if i was Marvel, Mar-Vell's Superhero name would be Masked Marvel or Marvelo and black gal Captain Marvel would be called Photon, like in the movie, also Miss Marvel would still be called Miss Marvel because Fawcett used the name first and Billy Batson wouldn't have to be called Shazam the second because he would change form when he would try to present himself.

It's too bad they cannot get their writing in better shape let alone the final drafts of some of these films. I know many are going to make this political about how "representation wokeness" ruined the movie. But being blunt, bad storytelling is far more dangerous than any woke story components to the success of a movie. For the few viewers you lose from one side you gain from those otherwise underrepresented. But ONLY if it's at least good to start with. If it's even just "so so" that is not going to cut today's box office.
