Every field of vehicles seems to have this phenomenon. For planes, it’s the AN-2. For tanks, the Renault FT. For submarines, it’s the Stirling engine. For ships, it’s the USS Constitution. For trains, it’s the Union Pacific “Big Boy.” For cars, it’s the Model T. There is always one specific make of machinery that is freaking IMMORTAL, and for absolutely no reason other than “Does it run? It’s fine then.”
@soldierofwessex76162 ай бұрын
i would agree with most of those, eccept constitution, yes she is still around and moving, but her machinery is non existant, saying that her machinery has survived would be a lie because she never had any in the first place, a better example would be ships likebritish ironclad HMS warrior or russian monitor strellets which both actually poccess an engine and can both go to sea

No it makes sense. FTs were built to be cheap and mass produced. In fact if you were going to make a WWI film, it was not be terribly hard to just build a few FT tanks for it on a movie budget. The Tigers on the other hand, are symbolic of German over-engineering. The only real knock against the FT is that it was not designed with maintenance in mind.

@NotARobot-x8nАй бұрын
well it was pretty different from it, the mark V was a heavy tank compared to the light tank that was the Renault FT, what made the Renault FT so popular among the french army is that it was easy to produce so you could deploy more of them through the whole front. So to take out light defenses the Renault FT would be better but against heavy defenses the Mark V would probably be better.

Weight doesn't matter too much. Most heavy, modern wheeled vehicles weigh more than the FT. The metal tracks digging into the concrete is what's doing the damage - partially why many modern tanks have rubber track pads instead of being all steel.

Where painting is concerned keeping it to a minimum cuts down on materials and their environmental impact as well a future redesign and expense.
