Original 1998 Furby, New In Box Reveal! Open it up and get it working! How to get dead Furby working

We've sold many New In Box Original Furbys that we've had unopened, new in box, in the original cases (12/case) since 1998. Several people have mentioned they want to get the Furby working. This will help you out! We are 100% so far in getting our Furbys going. This video was shot in one take on the first try, so I apologize for any imperfections. It accurately represents the process.
New Batteries are a must! The only one we struggled with was using batteries out of our remote control. We switched to new batteries and it instantly fired up! smh.

I was so happy when I found a brand new one, but then so heartbroken when I got it out of the box and it would not work. I desperately tried everything I could think of, and did many searches online. Tried what was said and nothing; it would not turn on. In the end, I thought that maybe it was a broken or disconnected wire like some say on youtube. Big disappointment as I knew I could not perform such a repair and knew no one who could. So I kept it, in its box as no matter what it was still cute. Thank you so much! I bought an Autumn (witch) Furby a few years ago at the flea market, and though it was new out of the box, it wasn't working. I really didn't want to take it apart to get it to work. I tried your trick, and it came to life after a few minutes. I thought it was just going to be a display piece, but I'm so happy it works now!

The easiest way is: take it with both hands and shake it gently but firmly up and down until you hear the gears turning. Worked for my furby baby, ear pulling was useless, it just needs a good shake.

Nice! I just biught a new in box one at a toy sale event and he didn't work. We opted to open him and start him by spinning internal gears but ultimately he had a broken wire. Works now. Thanks for sharing on how to do this easily. I plan to buy more.

probably needs a new speaker. sometimes, even if the furby is brand new, some parts could be faulty or broken because these are 25 year old electronics. i have a furby that i bought new in box that has a faulty tilt sensor (it’s not completely broken but it rarely works) so yeah it’s just the reality

Sorry for the very late reply. Some take quite a bit longer than others. If it was new in box, I'd just make sure you ahve new batteries and try again.

Please help. This worked for me to get it moving, but it has no sound. It was brand new in box. Is there anything I can do? (1998 Pink Flamingo)

Sadly i think you will have to take the fur off. Once you get the fur and shell off, you will see two connections on the left side of the furby, connected to the circuit board. Find the one that's connected to the speaker and make sure it's fully plugged in. It that doesn't fix it, you will have to replace the speaker. There are tutorials on how to take it out and replace it.

Thank you for the great video. I recently bought one from eBay and it's now getting stuck, for lack of a better word. It either has a constant low beep or it will do a constant static noise after working for a couple of minutes. Do you have any advice for me? It's a 1998.

We actually do mainly the upside down smack the bottom until it wakes up. It's Furby CPR. I'm glad it worked for you!

I finally got mine to wake up, but he keeps going right back to sleep every time. He'll start up when I hit the reset button, but I read somewhere not to keep hitting the reset button too much. I keep rocking him to wake him back up, but only the reset button wakes him up. And yes, using new batteries. He's not out of box, so I don't have any history on him. So how do I keep him awake? It is a 20+ year old electronic toy. Sometimes they are just dead. However, if it was new in the box, just make sure you have brand new batteries. Also, you can hit it a little harder than you'd think it necessary. They are hardy little guys. GL!

First, I'm sorry for such a late reply. However, I've had a few that were MUCH harder to get going than others. Maybe you can try again? Brand new batteries. On the "Burping" or "CPR" portion, flat palm on the bottom and upside down and back right side up. Fairly hard for about 20 to 30 seconds right side up, then upside down. I've had a couple come on after 10 minutes of seemingly killing it. Best of luck! Please let me know if you get it working.
