Couldn’t have picked a better piece to upload and celebrate the 4th of July. Great find. Congratulations sir.

Great video. It is a real pleasure to see someone express genuine enthusiasm for something other than the latest polymer wonder gun. I have owned and/or shot such a wide variety of polymer framed striker fired pistols over the years that my interest in them is waning just a bit while my interest in 1911/2011 pistols is growing. Thanks for providing these videos for our enjoyment.

Great review. I have always heard that the collect bushing was to tighten up the barrel to frame fit because the machinery was so wore out by the 70's., a lot cheaper than buying new machinery. I enjoy your reviews keep it up Thanks

Congratulations on your new addition to your 1911 collection!... it is indeed and awesome gun and, in my opinion, a true piece of art. I love 1911's and the .45 ACP cartrifge... it is my preferred gun platform and caliber. Cheers!

Great review. I have a Colt Gold Cup Series 70 built in 1977 that I bought around 1979 from a collector and it is in pristine condition. I have put less than 100 rounds through it. Great shooter. I take it out once in a while to shoot but it is primarily a vault gun. Shoot my C2 a lot more but really appreciate old Colt gun, BTW no rattle and original mag.

I'm with you. I love bluing and wood. I even look past the hammer bite these beauties give me, because to me, the 1911 is the penultimate pistol design. Great review. Can't wait for the shooting review.

Good review. I have one from 1981 in .45 acp. I did replace the Collet bushing with a new Ed Brown bushing to preserve it. I shoot it from time to time and I find it is really accurate with 230 grain ball. I did replace the recoil spring, firing pin spring and main spring with Wolf Springs. I went with the factory 16 lbs recoil spring. My carry gun is a Kimber TLE II in .45 and that has an 18lbs recoil spring. These old blued Colts are beautiful 1911s.

I had a 1968 Colt Commander (made before the combat commander). It was a 9mm, I had no idea of the value, but a friend swapped me a Remington 300 win mag sendero with a scope and bipod on it. I was happier with the rifle and we were both satisfied. I know he sold it and made money off of the deal but I’m not a good seller on stuff and had more interest in the rifle. I felt like I did ok anyway

Nice purchase. I’m in the process of getting the same one but it’s a 1973. Can you make a video taking it apart? Not to much out there on the 1911s with a collet bushing.

Nice little breakdown, brother. Dig the Inzer gear. I have one of their belts that I got about 10 years ago. It's stiff! Never quite warmed up to it. Probably my fault for not being a man.

I love the lever belts. I hade one for about 15 years until I outgrew it and then bough another one. They are extremely stiff until they get broken in. It does take quite a while to break them in too.

Never remove the "accurizer" collet bushing from the barrel, doing so stresses the spring fingers and leads to breakage.

What’s to going price for a 1911 Series 70 from this time frame…?

That's a nice piece. It would've caused severe injury to my wallet, but at least you don't have to worry about it containing soy or having pronouns.
