Original Dark Wolf Ultra (Dynamic Brake) Magnet Upgrade

This ONLY applies to the dynamic braked Dark Wolf Ultra reels made before June 3rd 2022.
If you have a static-braked model you won't be able to fit the magnets in and there is also no need to because those reels are not under-braked to begin with!
However, for any of the Dark Wolf Ultra (and similar reels on the same platform) with dynamic brakes, this modification will take you about 30 seconds to complete - once I've spent five minutes explaining it.
When it is done, the reel can actually out-cast the famous Daiwa Alphas Air TW - especially if you also upgrade the bearings to Roro SiC (or stainless steel) BFS ST bearing. See the article on the link below for full details of the reel and all modifications:

Good afternoon. The latest modifications of the "dark wolf" do not have a dynamic brake system. The inner brake shoe does not contain springs. The block is in one position. Thanks to your article, as well as a few other kind people, I also made modifications with the "dark wolf". I cut off the stops, and installed springs, 1.4x2.5 mm, wire section 0.1 mm, magnets, 4x1 mm, were also installed. A complete success, but with such springs the magnet touches the coil a little. I put 4x0.5 and the result is the same as yours. Thank you!

Hi Paul. I am trying to get the magnets for my Ultra upgrade. But being in Australia there doesn't seem to have anyway of getting them here. Is there an Ebay Link you could tell me about please. Cheers and great video

Hi - are you certain that you have a "moving" brake shoe version of the reel? Reels sold after early June 2022 will almost certainly be the modified "locked" brake shoe version and will not need additional magnets.

Bagaimana kalau menggunakan Neodyum N52? ukuran 4x1 mm apakah magnet terlalu kuat? saya membaca di artikel anda menggunakan N42 ukuran 4x0,5mm dan 4x1mm apakah masih aman jika mencoba menggunakan magnet n52? 4x1 di tipiskan lagi menjadi 4x0,5mm mohon petunjuknya, saya baru beli DWU sehari yang lalu terimakasih banyak semoga dijawab salam dari Indonesia 🇲🇨

When it comes to the roro bearing upgrade where do you put those two bearings? I assume they are the ones the spool is using?

Yes, one goes in the side plate where the brakes are and the other goes on the spool spindle. The process is basically the same as the one I show on Fishing Discoveries for the GH100 reel (the only difference is the bearings for Dark Wolf Ultra are a pair of 834 size bearings). I’ve tried the exact same magnets and method on mine and it touches the spool. With just the original magnets I get backlashes on all casts if I don’t make sure to stop it during cast.

Is this on the newer version of the reel (sold from June 2022 onwards)? If so, the braking system is probably locked out in the fully extended position (and this makes the available space smaller). You might be able to fit one or two of the 0.5-mm thickness magnets in without them rubbing.

Автор видео вы не правы,нельзя ставить магниты толще чем 0.5 потому что они будут цеплять шпулю когда тормоза буду выставлены в положении ( 5 ).Зачем учить людей если сами не знаете что делаете?Народ используйте магниты только размером 4х0.5.Всем удачи.
