This classic car is one of the largest two doors coupe ever made with almost 19 feet long. This video shows 1974 Gran Torino Elite and 1975 1976 Elite. In '75, the word Elite became a brand on its own. These giant personal luxury cars were once sailing highways and now became relics of a past where size mixed with style was a must. This bodystyle was the same one as the Mercury Cougar and the Thunderbird of the same year. The only difference was the front end and the shape of the opera window. This model was mainly competing against the Chevrolet Monte Carlo of its time.

Back in 1975 when I was 16 this was one of my favorite cars. I was and still am a sucker for anything with 2 doors, a vinyl top, and opera windows.

Yes folks, thats Tom Selleck driving a new 1976 Elite. He worked for Ford/Lincoln/Mercury advertising in the 70;s.

My mother had a 76 it was beautiful and I what's learning how to detail cars I kept that car so clean it was the cleanest car at McDonald's every weekend when I was in my teens I wish I would like to find one today

I thank Ford Torino 72, for sharing the commercials of the wonderful Ford Mercury Gran Torino and Elite automobiles from the 70s, at the age of 22 I acquired my second car, a Gran Torino 73, it was love at first sight, it was like traveling in a flying carpet, thank you for making us remember those wonderful years.

I owned a 74 from 1980 to about 1983. I wish I still had it.

I keep a 1975 Ford Elite, _The Bruised Banana_ , brown vinyl roof over yellow paintwork, 36,xxx miles. Ford built 372,249 Elites over 3 years, so it's still possible to find a well kept example.

The '74-'76 Elite models were very beautiful, sold well, but in reality were the first downsized T-Birds that ran simultaneously at mid-decade with the much larger real T-Bird, easing it into the downsized '77 model, when the Elite disappeared.

They were nicer than the Cougar Montego or Torino, the 2 door model in this model era..I had one in maroon
