Interpretation of the song’s story: Mumei was lost and alone in the world, not really sure what to do. A nameless person will never be known or loved, destined to be forgotten. It hurts, because nobody wants to be alone, so she desperately wanted to find someone. The only clue she has is a lantern and a letter she found in the darkness. She doesn’t know the name or the face of the person who wrote the letter, but it was all she has, so she clings to it and it pushed her forward in the hopes of someday finding the letter’s author. In her head she’s imagining all the fun things they will do together. In her travels she meets the lady on the water. Who is this lady? She was someone else just like Mumei. This lady tells her to stop chasing shadows. This is when Mumei’s eyes are opened. You will never find someone chasing the idea of a person. Only by putting yourself out there to be seen will people find you. Looking at the lantern and no longer hiding under a hood she changes her position from a seeker to guide and is able to be a light in the darkness for others who were like her. She knows what it is like because she was just like them. She journeys across the darkness and other mumeis see her. The truth is that the world was never empty. She had focused on this one person in a letter that she could not see all the people who were around. And one day someone in the darkness finds her. Is this the person she was longing for? No, but this person is real and here now and that is worth so much more than some idea of a person. Eventually endings happen, but the world keeps going. The whale isn’t gonna stop swimming just because a light has gone out. The whale probably doesn’t even know it crossed the lantern holder’s path. You’re going to need to be okay with that. If you feel alone in the darkness desperately looking for someone, at the end of the song is a lantern left for you. It even has your name on it. Stop hiding your face, pick up that lantern and hold it up for someone to find you. It may not be the person you were looking for, but it will be even greater.

TKN is an Old vocaloid producer that she really liked when she was younger and asked if they would produce this. The song was in the works for over a year now. Also her Name Nanashi Mumei in jp means anonymous anonymous so it's basically a pun with the whole my name is I have no name. Works perfect for the name of the song.

@@EddieHatesReactions yeah! she was super excited when they agreed to do it. Due to her being sick and just not happy with her vocals she was talking a long time on making these. Dude is a champ he would just randomly send her something and she would be like OMG this is amazing. Then we would just keep doing it and it evolved into what it is now.

@@EddieHatesReactions another fun thing is that Mumei is an owl. SO her name goes from Nanashi Mumei ---> anonymous anonymous --> who who. There is also the whole calling her pet Animal and her mascot friend so she wont forget their names.

another one Howdy! Time for lore Mumei chose her name herself as Anonymous (nanashi) Nameless (mumei) and theres quite a lot to it honestly! Mumei herself talked about it after this song came out, she was sometimes called by a teacher in school as "a shadow in a hoodie" kinda like she just blends into the background. Lore wise Mumei is the embodiment of a concept, Civilization, just like her opposite in her generation Fauna is the embodiment of mother nature, Sana embodied Space while Kronii was Time, Bae is literal Chaos while Irys is Hope. She has been around since the beginning of humanity and as such has forgotten more than anyone else has known, this is so she dosnt feel the pain of losing people anymore. So shes named her little friendly floating bag creature "Friend" and her pet "Animal" because as soon as she looks at them, instead of having to remember a name she will be like "Animal!". She has lived so long that she dosnt even have her own name, but this song is her saying "No im not Nameless, i am "Mumei"

some facts about Mumei Song.... Random Mumei Fact: She wasn't a singer before Hololive. She's only now taking singing and acting lessons and is doing great. This song was sung by her at the annual Hololive concert in JP and she was really nervous because it was hard to sing/not having confidence and too much effect on her voice in the music video. But at the show the audience knew the difficulties of singing a song like that live and Mumei's effort. So in the middle of the show you can hear everyone shouting at her "You can do it, keep going" and the other side singing along with her. In Japan it is relatively rare for the audience to sing along because it is kind of disrespectful, but knowing that Mumei is not Japanese and wanting to help her, it was very magical and cute. She herself said this during a live stream after the show, when she was nervous but heard the audience talking and singing. She even let loose in the middle of the song. It's very clear. One of the reasons I love being part of this community. They really try their best and help each other out.

I think risu once said that in order to make a song thats sounds good and complete with a full animated MV, basically a high production song could cost a couple thousand if not more. And im pretty sure some of them said that hololive doesnt actually pay for a song production, only a first few covers or so. So the budget is actually from the person behind it. Thus, if they have a few money to spare like calli who is one of the top most superchatted youtube streamer, you could easily pump out songs left and right.

Yeah but like... Not every song needs a MV, and songs can sound good without being expensive lol look at all the indie artists out there. At the end of the day if u don't wanna pump out music that's fine, I'm just saying if small ass artists can do it then I'm sure ppl who aren't freaking broke can lol
@EddieHatesReactions Жыл бұрын
Even production u don't need Giga or the biggest producer u could get someone smaller or learn it yourself. Just all depends how much the artist in question wants to make some music.

the production on this song was great and sounded sooooo good Mooms is a monster when it comes to singin her marathon karaokes are really impressive but more importantly it gives you some good glimpses at her talent, shes not the greatest singer in the world but you catch alot of glimpses where you can tell she can become a real powerhouse if she keeps going

Nah so a new start is basically a song that was created cause cover wanted everyone to have their own original songs. Thats why you see people who dont normally sing like ame and kronii have their og song. Btw another way of saying mumei's 1st song is anus tart coined by Takanashi Kiara
@dcresistance Жыл бұрын
That's not the case with Ame
@tkb1467 Жыл бұрын
@dcresistance Yea it was mostly a council thing. But also I feel like because council had that push with each getting an original song ame kinda wanted one of her own
