Original Thrawn Story Begins - Star Wars Legends Lore DOCUMENTARY

Wizards and Warriors Channel sci-fi animated documentary video series on the Star Wars galaxy lore will continue with the second episode on the Galactic Civil War, as in the aftermath of the battle of Scarif ( • Battle of Scarif - Gal... ) the rebel alliance got its hand on the Death Star plans uncovering its weakness. After of the destruction of Alderaan, Princess Leia Organa assisted by Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C-3PO brought it to the alliance leadership with Darth Vader, Wilhuff Tarkin and the Death Star in pursuit, which led to the famous battle of Yavin ( • Battle of Yavin - Gala... ). The victory at Yavin allowed the Rebels to find new allies in Mon Calamari and their Mercantile fleet helped them create their fleet. However, the empire was still hunting the Rebels, which led to the battles of Vrogas Vas and Mako-to, where the Empire regained ground ( • Rebels Build a Fleet -... ), forcing the rebels into the Mid Rim Retreat which led to the battle of Hoth in 3 ABY ( • Battle of Hoth - How I... ). In the aftermath of Hoth, the rebels were forced to continue their retreat, but various groups like the 61st Mobile Infantry (Twilight Company) continued fighting the Empire, leading to the strategically important battle of Inyusu Tor on the planet Sullust ( • What Happened between ... ). With these minor victories, the Rebels, who learned that the Emperor is building a new Death Star, had a new opening to attack the Empire, which led to the battle of Endor ( • Battle of Endor - Gala... ). Emperor Palpatine died during the battle of Endor, but he had ordered Operation Cinder beforehand. This operation was emperor's revenge, as he wanted to destroy both the rebels, who killed him and the imperials who failed to protect him. Then infamous Shadow Wing was in charge of portions of this operation and was countered by the Republics Alphabet Squadron and the Barma Battle Group under Hera Syndulla. Their confrontation led to the battles of Pandem Nai, Cerberon and Troithe ( • Operation Cinder - Emp... ). The final battle of the Galactic Civil War would be fought near Jakku, as the New Republic finally found a way to end the empire ( • Battle of Jakku - End ... ). But that was not the end of the story. The empire dissolved in many factions and among them, grand admiral Thrawn arrived to the scene, becoming the heir of the empire.

My I humbly suggest you, on your star wars video to precise if you are talking about the Legend universe or the Disney universe. Your series on the Galactic Civil War was a Disney universe serie. Ahsoka being HttE adaptation and Rise of Skywalker their Dark Empire... I know they use the excuse that they wanted creative freedom, but that sounds like bullshit. Why buy a 40-year old property then? The money argument makes more sense.

Love the Thrawn and X-Wing legends books, but I also think that the Thrawn canon books are some of the best of Star Wars. X-Wing books would make for a great TV show (roughly one book per season) and the Thrawn trilogy would make a great couple of films, sadly it's unlikely they'll ever get made. Still it's great to see a fantastic character like Thrawn is still part of canon, even if his appearances outside the books haven't been that good so far

This is a most pleasant surprise, to see Star Wars Legends (the original Expanded Universe) lore video. I would've recommended The Essential Atlas sourcebook Galaxy maps as a backdrop for the lore video. Though it might've been too complex. The cloned Jedi Master was known as Joruus C'baoth, note the extra vowel was added for the clone. I never had the chance to read the Thrawn Trilogy, but I read the prequel Outbound Flight. The original Jorus C'baoth was an arrogant and becoming a tyrannical Jedi. In the climax, C'baoth actually turned to the Dark side and tried to force choke Thrawn during the battle.

This is my favorite Book series for Star Wars, followed closely by the Black Fleet Crisis. One thing though, when Thrawn Attacked Sluis Van, I am pretty sure I remember that he was mostly going for stealing heavy cruisers, not much corvettes and frigates, so should have been more MC-40s and MC-80 style Mon Calamarian vessels in that animation, and less Corellian corvettes and Nebulon-B frigates. In fact, I believe Rogue Squad was actually stationed on a Nebulon-B, captained by Afyon, which was acting as a transport ship in the area.

Actually, Palptine, now in a clone of his, had sincerely hoped that Thrawn would be smart enough to not intervene but to gather resources in the outer rim and unknown regions and wild space; the true heir to the empire was none other than Palpatine himself, in yet another clone body, operating from Byss in the deep core and preparing to launch his own bid for supremacy.

Yet Palpatine bided his time and only made his move when the Thrawn campaign ended. Possibly he was wary or jealous of the Chiss Grand Admiral. If Thrawn's campaign and the Emperor's Operation Shadow Hand happened at the same time, the New Republic would've been destroyed.

The Galactic Civil War in Legends is very complicated; there are many novels, comics, video games and sourcebooks made across the decades. For example; the theft of the Death Star plans has many different stories and versions across different media. I don't think it was ever decided which one was official, but since the characters involved all existed in canon, it was left open ended. These characters included Kyle Katarn, Jan Ors, Rianna Saren, Havet Storm, Bria Tharen and Red Hand Squadron.

The Thrawn trilogy is top tier Star Wars expanded universe. Imo it is the defacto REAL sequel trilogy. What I love most about Star Wars Heir to the Empire novel was how the writer made the Empire the underdog. In the original trilogy, audience see the Empire as a indestructible force. In HTTE since Endor, the Imperials have a few Starships and starfighters. A lot of their veterans soldiers and star pilots were killed. They have no choice but to use raw recruits. When the Empire was still the dominate power in charge, the Rebel Alliance had to use guerilla tactics. In HTTE, it the Empire that had to resort to use that same tactic like the Rebels.

Ah, I remember... these were the first post-Endor books I read. I was a bit young though (around 13) and thought of them as hard to visualise before my inner eye and a bit boring and convoluted. Knowing now that author Timothy Zahn wrote all of this before the Phantom Menace was released, I gained more respect for his works. Personally I think the most interesting character he developed was renegade ex-Jedi Master Joruus C'baoth. Thrawn imo is too rational and 'Spock-like' to be relatable. Strangely enough, we don't really learn what convinced him of the Imperial ideology.

@@wilsonriley1856 Yeah I know, but that was written after the trilogy and not by Zahn. What I meant to ask was: why did this supposed genius think that Palpatine and the Empire are the best way to oppose the Yuuzhan Vong? I mean, how about informing the galaxy of this threat and try to unite them by diplomacy? And after the emperor's death, why not join the New Republic? There can be good answers to these questions but you won't find them in this trilogy.

@@Crafty_Spirit Were it not for his untimely death, Thrawn would have been able to defeat the NR with the forces he had at his disposal, which was significantly less than the empire had at its peak. No need to join the NR when you are superior to it. And Thrawn believed that the squabbling factions within the NR would make it more of a liability than the empire.
